The D stopped them pretty much cold through about 2.5 quarters. The were on the field way too long. So, yes, it was the offense's fault. Heck I am not saying the D play great in the 4th but really the D was toast by then.

Not once did LSU really move the ball, 2 big plays on offense the rest of the time it was just horrid looking.

Eventually you are going to have to get 1st downs, or you will not be playing for a SEC championship. You don't need 600 yards of offense but you do need a freaking offense.

Me too, I thought all plays were reviewed.

For 58 plays, 300 yards inst bad if you consider the fumbles and Holding calls..

    IMO, workable for the season....

300 yards will put you in at 113th based on last year, down from 112th in the nation. There was no offense. Even if you bump 1st downs to 16 that is not even good. Plus it was basically UNC's entire second string.

YOu could chalk it up to the 1st game if it were not for the fact this is how the offense has looked for almost 2 years.

A few great individual efforts are not going to get you a NC or even a SEC crown or even the West crown.

I agree with most of this. I think some of the criticism of JJ is a bit "overrated". Yes, he made a few mistakes, but I thought he did look more comfortable and more in command than he did last year. Shore up the mental errors (late interception in the first half, hanging on to the ball a little long still on some plays, but not as often as in the past) and I think he is coming around, personally. Apparently, judging from the other posts, most do not agree with me on this, but I am sticking to that. I think he showed a lot more poise and promise. He looks like a more polished TPryor to me. Nevis was a beast, and nothing else to say about PP - amazing!

Perhaps. This was definitely not the regular opening-game cupcake defense he was facing. More comfortable, maybe, but more in command? I don't know. He didn't look like a leader out there. We haven't had a take-charge team leader for a couple of years now.

I'll take a bunch of fugly wins all day as long as they aren't losses. When we start losing I will start complaining. I'll add this to the mix, Chavis' prevent D is overrated. It was his undoing at Tenn and we saw it last night.

That missed field goal hurt us . . . and it was a chip shot, too. But his pooch punting was excellent and he still out-punted our "long" punter with a 41-yard average.

Who roughed the UNC punter? Was it a walk-on? I've never heard of him.
