I think the defense looked top 10 in the first half. Only when we got the roughing the kicker penalty did they start to bend, and without that penalty, we go into half 30-3 or 30-0. The second half was a completely different story in which we didn't play lights out on D, granted the defense was on the field almost the whole second half. Chavis is not afraid to blitz, which I like, but we need to work on tackling and tighter and more disciplined coverage. No more biting on the stop-and-go routes and no more sitting 8 yards back and giving them the 5 yard passes on first down.
Claiborne is not ready for Prime Time, neither is Mathieu, but they look like they have potential. Peterson was overtasked with special teams, I thought. He ran out of gas on defense at the end. Eugene has just never turned the corner into an SEC-caliber back. The safeties just got beat a lot. They all underestimated the UNC quarterback and receivers.
I noticed that too. Throws his shoulder a lot, especial on one play when the Tigers were backed up near the endzone and almost completely missed the ball carrier. And red's post +1
