I know its a bit early, but I'm already lookin' forward to seeing our team take the field next year. I think we will be improved on offense. With our receiving core and RB's having more experience and maturity, the main question will be at QB. On defense, I believe also we will be good. Great talent at DL, and I believe with our very talented secondary being coached up we will be fine there too. One thing I haven't heard discussed much is our schedule next year. Generally, we think our odd years give us the best shot at a championship, but looking at our road games, it is very doable. Even if we dropped a game during the season, we may have a chance to make it up in the seccg.NC for 2008! Like I said before, I know its a bit early but I need a distraction. BTW I'm lookin' forward to Saturday!:geaux: Anybody care to break next year down further, by all means the floor is yours.....
Let me say that I didn't look at next years schedule until last night and I was pleasantly surprized. It seems to me that our schedule has changed somewhat in the last 4 or 5 years compared to the way it use to be? Anyway I do think its quite doable as well. Our toughest games on the road is at Auburn, Fla and USCE. Worse case scenario is if we lost at Auburn and Fla we would have the same record as this year which wouldn't be bad at all when you consider the amount of players that will be starting or playing for the first time.
"by all means the floor is yours" Thank you... Test test is this thing on ? Test Test sippowitz sippowitz... Thank you distinguished panel, and honored guests..... My opinion of the 08 football team. Depends on coaching staff. I think they will be a great team but I think the opportunity at least for now for another National Title has passed just with schedule and experience. I am still concerned about our line backing core with Highsmith leaving. I think Chad Jones is a rising star. I am eager to see Tolliver and some of the WR's blossum. I think if Perrilloux gets the right coach who can keep in him line he has all the talent in the world. RBs will be fantastic but Hester was a leader and a rock. He will be missed. Bottom line this team can be again a leader in the SEC, but there are many "ifs" remaining. Bottom line, who will step up and be the leader. Hester clearly was that with Flynn a bit on offense. Dorsey on Defense. Thank you and good night
2008 Defense: We lose 4 of our top 5 tacklers (Steltz, Highsmith, Dorsey, Pittman) S: Danny McCray, Curtis Taylor, Chad Jones, Shomari Clemons -- Very deep and good experience coming back between the top 3. CB: Phelon Jones, Jai Eugene, Stefoin Francois, Chris Hawkins -- A lot of talent, but no experience... will be a huge weakness. LB: Jacob Cutrera, Derry Beckwith, Kelvin Sheppard, Perry Riley -- Lacking quality depth, but decent experience... expect Sheppard to be a beast. DT: Charles Alexander, Drake Nevis, Marlon Favorite, Al Woods -- No concern here at all. DE: Ricky Jean-Francois, Tremaine Johnson -- Young and inexperienced past the two starters. (If Jackson comes back, it would be very nice) 2008 Offense: Loaded QB: Ryan Perrilloux, Jarrett Lee -- Lets hope Ryan keeps his nose clean. RB: Charles Scott, Keiland Williams, Richard Murphy -- Loaded... lets hope this is where a team leader steps up. WR: Terrance Tolliver, Demetrius Byrd, Brandon LaFell, Jared Mitchell, Chris Mitchell, Ricky Dixon. -- Yea... no trouble Slot: Trindon Holliday -- Nuff Said OLine: Big Herm, Ciron Black, Jarvis Jones, Will Arnold, Max Holmes -- Young, but if Arnold comes back healthy we should be great... no more Stewart so the flinches may subside. TE: Richard "Magnet Hands" Dickson, Jordan Corbin -- Stacked, hope we use them more FB: Quinn Johnson -- Little shallow I think we will compete very well next year with this team
QB, Perrilloux, Overall Grade B, due to his off field shenanigans, Talent is an A. Flynn, thanks for the clutch games, and beating thugU in the Peach. RB, CS, KW, mixed with TH, best trio and best backfield in country, Overall A, Talent A+. Hester you are a beast, and hope to see LSU's version of Alstott at the next level. FB, Quinn Johnson, decent blocker, overall B, talent B- WR, Lafell, Bird, Tolliver, and not sure but I think Benton from Bastrop? Overall A- if they can play to their levels definite A, talent A+. Early will be missed greatly. Thanks, good luck at the next level. TE, Dickson looks as if he could evolve into a top notch pass catching TE, played solid this year. Overall A-, Talent A- LT, Ciron Black, has the size to be a great one,, go with overall B, Talent B LG, Hope to see Big Herman Johnson back, have to say B, Talent A if he can play up and try to earn big money next year C, Brett Helmes, good overall blocker, and will be counted on to lead the o-line, Overall A, Talent A RG, Hitt, not sure maybe we can get a talented o-lineman to pick it up, but Hitt can be the guy, OVerall B-, Talent B- RT, Maybe Snyder can be another good lineman from WM, not sure about this position, but with Perilloux, just don't have horrible holds and we can be ok here, Overall, C, Talent ??? PR, Anybody though Jones has had good hands here, Grade A possibly A- PK, Colt David, enough said, solid year for him, and glad he is back. Grade of A Punter, not sure anybody who can get a decent kick off in our punt ugly formation. Grade????? Coaches, not getting into that one, will get back to that in a few weeks, I like crowton as OC though. HC, we have talent, so he just needs to be able to develop some young talent, and defense, we need a beast that is gonna bring the heat, be that Pelini or not. :LSU231: Stuck in Wyoming, can't wait to be home, glad i joined the Air Force, but it is cold up here.
I don't think the schedule matters if we continually play to the level of our opposition. If we come out punching teams in the mouth from the first snap then we'll win. If we are the "most entertaining" football team again next year who knows where we'll end up.
If we come out of next season with only 2 losses I will be happy. However, Worst case scenario is more than 2 losses which could happen if our team doesn't grow up fast enough during those road games. Looking at the schedule, we play @Auburn, then Moo U at home, then at Florida and South Carolina in consecutive weeks, then the next week we come home to Georgia. We will need to get our act together. Not making anything better is the fact that UF and UGA will be better next year because they were playing a lot of underclassmen this year.
