I had a feeling that UT was going to pull this off today. OU had not been challenged at all to this point; when someone came out and didn't lay down and die, they really didn't know how to handle that. Stoops is overrated as a coach, in my opinion.
OU had a chance to put this out of reach early, but gave up the kickoff for a TD. Talk about a play that totally changed the complexion of the game. It's all about confidence. Texas got theirs back with that singular play.
Those teams are as solid as it gets in CFB this year. I thoroughly expect Texas to be one of the top two come tomorrow. If LSU wins, it'll be another close game against a team ranked outside of the top ten and they will get jumped again...and given the resume thus far, I think that's fair for now. If LSU is what we think they are and really deserve a top two ranking, they'll have to start showing it tonight. Our offense is worthy ONLY if our defense can hold up against real offensive firepower. We'll see how that will shape up starting tonight. If we can hold Florida to 21 or less, I can confidently say that we can probably hold our own against the likes of OU and Texas. Otherwise, I can't seriously say that I would want to watch LSU play any of the Big XII top three. I'm just sayin'...
I've been saying all season the OU was over rated. If you put LSU, Florida, Georgia or Alabama in any other conference they would be the favorite to win that conf championship.
If you're referring to what I asked, I was just wondering IF Texas could move UP had they lost since they played a respectable game against the top ranked team. But it's a moot point now. But it is a curious situation. That If a team lost to a highly ranked opponent, but looked so good that they actually moved up instead of down.
Teams in the Big 12, as evidenced by the score today, don't play great defense. They never have. They are exciting to watch. Todays game was as entertaining as any I've seen all year. But its not what wins you NCs. The SEC champ would beat either one of these teams today, because SEC football (except in the case of UGA) starts with defense.
After watching OU and Texas and Georgia/Tenn I have to say that these are the two class conferences. Watching Nebraska vs TT and USC/ASU they look like they are playing in slow motion.
