Let it go? I ask if he's a sign and place and this conversation has turned to... Loses on someone who doesn't have a committable offer? How does that work, exactly? You're right in the point it comes down to a numbers game: Chidi is in the mix with two other offensive tackles for one spot—Drew Richmond and Isaiah Prince. You don't have to take my word for it though. I would strongly suggest it. Rivals: Prince Tega Wanogho, four-star defensive end from Edgewood Academy in Ala., will likely add an offer from Alabama in the next week. Auburn and LSU are considered favorites. Mississippi State is working very hard to get him for a visit. Alabama has a chance if they can get him to Tuscaloosa in the next two weeks. The Advocate quoting 247Sports: Valentine-Okeke may be a risk to qualify academically, according to 247Sports. He must gain credit hours and improve his test scores, the site reported. SI.com's Fansided: There’s some concern as to his ability to qualify. Valentine-Okeke is from Nigeria and hasn’t been in the US for long, so he still has some credits to complete before being accepted. With another semester of school plus the summer, he may still be able to get his work done in time to be on campus in the fall. (Pardon the interruption...but it's "reported" that he's made it through the Clearinghouse but he hasn't been accepted? How does that work, exactly?) Ryan Bartow, of 247, has postured the question if he'll qualify for JUCO. Hyperbole? I suspect so. Now, what's thrown a bigger wrench into all of this is not only his Nigerian education, but also the shuffle between Hialeah and the private school he's supposed to be attending in ATL. (Now picture what the NCAA Clearinghouse is looking through.) And this alleged spin is where...?
I don't understand why it's so hard for everyone to understand. The only reason CVO committed to LSU is because he wasn't good enough for the Gumps and Saban didn't want him at Auburn. The only reason Steele is coaching at LSU is because Saban was about to fire him and hire someone better. Same for Thompson at Auburn. He's crap, too. And Eddie Lacy was never an academic risk. He was the best player in the country, who the Gumps plucked from our backyard because Saban out-recruited everyone. We only get to sign players after Saban rules them inferior to the Gump roster. Get with the program, guys.
Your defensiveness whenever somebody suggests that Bama doesn't get every recruit that they want speaks very loudly.
First, I assume you know that your numbers should be fantastic now huh? You are 0 for 3 on your supposed OL targets for 1 spot. Richmond is going to Ole Miss. CVO is coming to LSU. Prince just decommitted and probably headed towards Ohio State. Soooooo, good news, your "one spot" is wide open. But let me take a wild guess....little Nicky wants it that way right? Let me guess...your nickname is "top" maybe? As far as CVO and your confusion about being cleared by one body and not another, not exactly unique. A guy named Travonte Valentine had the same thing happen to him. He was cleared by the NCAA BEFORE the 2014 season but someone complained (Florida or MSU are the rumors) and he got held up the entire season. His school had never had a guy go through the process before and he was a transfer to boot. So, I'm sure you like your spy novel and black helicopters but these things happen...the more you have private small schools or guys coming from foreign countries, it is going to occur more often. My prediction is that CVO gets his test score, his American credits are fine, so it just depends on the Nigerian end of it. But hey, I don't want to spoil your fun. Fuel up the black ops whirlybird and have at it. Oh, and while you're flying around, come up with an excuse why little Nicky wanted 1 of 3 and has bupkus! P.S. Good luck on Prince Tega...he is going to be Auburn or LSU, but dream on.
I could see Prince picking Bama. He stopped in Tuscaloosa before his official visit to Ole Miss and after his Ole Miss visit.
The whole point of the first comment in this thread was: Now, you've chosen to make this about Bama. It was suggested he's already cleared the Clearinghouse but he hasn't been accepted at LSU as of yet. It was suggested this happens with all students; not the case. It was suggested that his qualifying wasn't the case with Bama; refuted not only by what I've heard but by several others which are linked here. It turns into "Bama turning him down?" That's never been suggested. Fandom comes into play with "un-win." Spinning? Spinning what? Often you'll suggest others not put words in your mouth. None of the things listed in the preceding paragraph where things you stated. However, you do step up to the plate with the comment I have trouble with the notion "that Bama actually loses recruits like everybody else." Geez, we're less than a year removed from my forecasting we're going to see more flips in the 2015 cycle than ever before. Perhaps, just perhaps, while suggesting others not put words into your mouth you don't characterize what I am thinking? Sounds fair to me, you?
247 didn't say the clearinghouse cleared him for this class. They said something about his classes being reviewed for reclassification from the 2016 class to the 2015 class. If that is true I assume it is similar to the process determining if a prospect is a early enrollee candidate. As we have seen that doesn't even guarantee early enrollee status either. We discussed the sign and place already a few days ago. Look at the previous post. Why are we coming back to this topic?
Richmond was at UT this weekend. I expect he'll sign with Ole Miss. CVO has committed to LSU. We don't know what Isaiah Prince is going to do. O-3? Possibly. Hence, the reason for mentioning Allen and how deep the 2016 tackles are. It's a spot that they want an offensive tackle in; certainly not a make or break for the offensive line class. As to your wild guesses? That talent isn't ready for primetime. You certainly strike me as an intelligent fellow but I have to ask...is this not what I've been saying through this entire thread? That last compliment comes with one caveat: "Fuel up the black ops whirlybird and have at it..." flies directly in the face of how you have come across.
Because that's how the whole conversation started before this ended up taking the turn it has. Your earlier post in this thread made me assume that. The reclassification came after his "guardian group" moved him to Georgia, That, and the "Clearinghouse" are two separate matters. (I've seen more than a share of kids accepted by schools only to be turned away by the NCAA's Clearinghouse.) As a side note to this, Prince Tega Wonogho also reclassified but that was due to AISA regulations. A transfer student in his situation only has one year of eligibility in the high school ranks in the state of Alabama. I don't know how the private school rules are written in Georgia; that may have come into play as well considering both are from Nigeria. These rules may be different in Florida than Alabama and Georgia. I don't know enough about how those states operate in the high school ranks to venture a guess. The kid has a tough road to hoe by all accounts. Considering where's he's come from and what he's trying to do one can't help but wish him the best. Good thoughts and intentions don't mean squat with the NCAA...
