Think about it, if you allowed free transfers, what if LSU got a really good QB. Played a really good season, then Bama's QB got hurt and offered our QB or something like that. What is to stop him? Would that be fair to the kid? It seems nice to say that this kid, which wouldn't start on many SEC teams should be able to go where he wants, but what if it was a more prolific talent? I think you have to have the rule for good reason or it will get abused. He committed to us and is leaving. There are consequences for that.
It was already being abused by coaches, IYAM. As it stood, an athlete had to ask a coach for permission to contact other schools when choosing to transfer. A school interested in recruiting a transferring player also had to ask the current school for permission to recruit. Without permission from the original school, the athlete could not get financial aid from another school, essentially blocking a transfer. Case in point, Kansas State reserve receiver Corey Sutton said he was blocked from transferring to 35 schools by coach Bill Snyder before the school finally relented amid public pressure. Under the new rule, athletes would be permitted to be contacted when they notify their current coaches, who have two days to enter the names into a database created and managed by the NCAA that will alert schools who can be recruited. The change will come with stricter tampering rules to help appease coaches who worry illegal recruiting could rise. I don't think we will see a free-for-all regarding this process. There could potentially be a quick bump but over time it will smooth out. Most kids commit because that's what they really want but to pack up and move is disruptive. Very few of them have a future in the NFL so why extend the time to a degree by moving around? If a kid is truly miserable in their situation, what point is there in forcing them to say or to reduce their opportunities? They won't play or won't play very well so why waste a scholarship just to be punitive? And one final note on all that....let's say a player is unhappy but not off the charts miserable. If they have to own their desire to transfer by talking to their head coach, perhaps it spawns a conversation that heals. Not all head coaches are assholes and some may be able to fix it. Okay, 99% are probably assholes but great salesmen usually are.
They've gotten so complicated and college football isn't filled with rocket scientists....I'm thinking half the players don't even understand their own signal systems. And that's surprising coming from you....you didn't change your indicator every single game?
Good grief, the only thing you know is run all the way to 2nd if you manage to draw a walk. Stupid girl sports and their crazy rules. You wouldn't know the 1st damn thing about a signal. Stupid whoa sign in bunkie got me rear ended.
