I know that....I just want the bullshit lip service to stop. Players get treated like a financial resource by coaches but then get stymied by things like money from sale of their unis. Time to get real.
Hey I understand where you are coming from, I do. The problem is there aren't a lot of great solutions, hell there aren't even any good ones. This would be as bad as doing away with the electoral college.
I think there should be a rule that says if you participated in fall practice you can transfer but not be able to participate in football activies until the semester is over. That way they can go to any school they want to (and take classes), but the new team doesnt get an advantage.
My only question to that would be, are cases where those transfers turn out to be advantageous the norm or are they special causes? If they are special cause, then policy shouldn't be formed around them. I tend to think that most kids who transfer don't make much of an impact but it's easy to think of the handful of ones who do.
I disagree. Why take away a yesr of eligible from giys who want to play somewhere if they have already graduated? I have no fear that McMillan is going to shred our defense this year or next and lead Alabama, Auburn or R Kansas to victory. Maybe I should in lightvof that Clausen kid who beat us after transferred to Tennessee but that's a rare circumstance. I hope Justin McMillan finds a suitable landing spot and gets to start for somebody this year but that will be a steep mountain to climg trying to compete against a QB who has already gone through fall camp and beed named the starter. I wish him all the luck in the world. He will need it.
I think there are cases that will be fair and unfair to both parties depending on the situation, but I would never want to hurt a student if he just wants to transfer. Blocking certain schools and conferences is absurd to me. But as far as managing rosters and being fair to the school, I dont want free agency - where a different coach is texting a family saying youre not going to be the starting QB, come and transfer here even though the season starts in two weeks. That is a case where obviously academics arent factored in. My reasoning isnt based on if someone can steal signals. Rather a program invests a ton of time and money into a player (from people that arent even getting paid) such as tutors, trainers, etc. So, maybe they could have used that scholarship for another player and invested their resources into someone else instead of using it on a player leaving that is just making a "business decision," and at the last second leaves the school on the hook. No matter what they do it wont be perfect and people will always have an issue because every case is different. I apologize, should have said for undergraduate players.
McMillan is srongly considering Tulane as an option. He would have to beat out another LSU transfer, Lindsay Scott. Report: Former LSU QB Justin McMillan has transfer destination in mind https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/l...in-mcmillan-has-transfer-destination-in-mind/
Honest question here. He knows the offense we've installed and stayed long enough to compete within it to try and win the job, failed, and wants to move on. That could be tough as some may just want to poach information. Does that bother anyone? Two months from now he can, right? After our offense has been on film and used in games. Interesting. My opinion is simple. He's a graduate transfer. I believe he should be able to go anywhere he wants.
Any player transferring should be prohibited from joining any team on the former team's schedule for that upcoming season. Programs have to be allowed to protect themselves.
I’m truly torn on it. You don’t want to open Pandora’s box on this one. We’ll end up with college football free agency.
