Unfortunately in his short term try out, he lost to both Notre Dame and UCLA. That will not get you the permanent job.

If you had to choose right now who would it be? Ok, Orgeron has some upside to him. Being native of Louisiana and with experience coaching in the SEC do you pick him? Or do you go with a guy like Herman who clearly can develope talent... But is still kind of unproven because the lack of taking he faces in the AAC. Can he coach against SEC teams weekly? Can he handle the lofty expectations at LSU. Something tells me this is why coaches would turn this job down due to the expectations and what it could do to their careers going forward. Perfect example Derek Dooley at Tennesssee.

You go with the youth that can light a fire into this program. Football has passed the older generation by when it comes to offense, Saban knew this and he went out and got a guy who was more current and young. Herman is that youth we need because everyone agrees he will be a force to be reckoned with if he has the talent around him, he is bright and innovative and he can recruit, that class at Houston had some really good talent on defense on it that decided to stay home and play for their home city. We need that in Baton Rouge because Louisiana is a talent hotbed and he has ties to the Houston area as well.

If Herman turns the job down, it won't be because he's scared of high expectations.

Just a thought I guess. I really don't know much about his character but judging based on his success at Houston I guess you're right.

He's from the Urban Meyer tree. A philosophy that gave Saban fits.
