Yeah USC made a great decision firing a man that turned their season around whose players would've killed for him and then made a better one hiring the drunkard right?

Let me put this out here:

Do you want O to fail or succeed?
Are you willing to give him a chance to succeed?
If he succeeds are you still going to grouse about him?
Can you change anything by bitching about it?

OMG - you guys are going on ad nauseum about something you cant do anything about except wait and see. If he fails, he will be gone, and hopefully Alleva and F'King with him.

I personally am excited to see what Aranda and Canada can do. We've already seen Aranda in action. I am feeling optimistic - my bubble may be burst, but I would rather that than the doom and gloom. Let's do this. Geaux Tigers!! :)

IYAM, the comparison wasn't so much about their coaching resumes but about both being underwhelming or at least unpopular hires to established programs. Still, PC was hardly a stellar HC in the NFL.
    Jets-1 yr, 6-10
    Pats-3 yrs, 33-31
This is a good time to remember that in PC's first season at USC, he started out going 2-5 including 4 straight losses after an opening win against lowly San Jose St. The season ended 6-5 with an embarrassing 6-10 loss to Utah in the Vegas Bowl. This first year for Oeaux could be bumpy and people might need to pull up their patience pants.

As for our record, who knows. We did go after Erickson and Pornstache Belotti. We obviously had a solid roster but no way to know what either of them would have done with it.
Oeaux wasn't fired. He was the interim and when haden hired the drunk, Oeaux quit. Flipped a few tables on his way out, lol. I love what Oeaux did for the balance of that season but he did the one thing you aren't supposed to do at SC, and that's lose to both the irish and the ruins.

As for the hiring of the drunk.....well...haden had zero hiring experience. His career was in broadcasting and wealth management. Personnel and everything that goes with it was new to him. He had no clue and despite hiring a search firm (just, stupid) the #1 reason he hired the drunk is because Pete Carroll told him to.

There are a few guys out there that didn't hit their stride until after failing at their first try. Most of these coaches that are mentioned fell on their ass before becoming the coaches they are today. Let's give O a 2nd chance and see what happens. In a couple of years, if we are regressing, then send his ass back to Mandeville. Hopefully by then King & Alleva will be ruining some other University and we can get back to business. Just maybe O gets it right this time.

Bellotti was a real solid coach, built Oregon up to a higher level, not a great recruiter though, but since USC recruits itself, I think Mike would have worked out fine for you guys. Erickson, great recruiter who didn't mind lowlife criminals on his team, ok coach, but he shit on every school he coached at.

It's really academic for TTap; he thinks he's doing the same thing the Miles' detractors did to Miles. So it's academic, but I give him a D-. It'd be an F but he's sometimes entertaining and actually does seem to know some shit.

Except that he thinks I have like 23 screen names here. I challenge you @TigerTap to give me just one that you think is me. This should be fun.

I gotcha. Your general take was solid. I guess in some sort of way, it was a passive-aggressive firing since Oeaux really thought he had a chance.
Bellotti was a douche. Would not have wanted him. USC hasn't always recruited itself although the recruiting landscape has changed a lot. All these academies, camps, competitions, etc have brought outsiders in to prominence but it's also made it more important for coaches to have a relationship with the local high school coaches. Bellotti had no cache in SoCal. He's strictly a NorCal porn-ho.

Erickson was the preferred one of the two for most fans. I think he was a nitwit for staying in Corvallis.
