From The Advocate article comment section. There are only two here that would create pause for me: I don't agree with it all the time, but more often than not the old cliche "if you are playing two QB's you don't have one" is true. Occasionally you'll see a rotation that works successfully--very occasionally. I don't agree with it all the time, but more often than not if you see a coach being judge on his coordinator hires you don't have a coach. Occasionally you'll see a good coach with equally good coordinators. Note two of the comments mention the coordinators as defense for Oregeron. Daniel Lambert · University of North Texas Hes brought in some of the best coordnators in the country. He lets them do their job unlike miles did. Probably should give him a full season to start ranking him. Julius Irving He was a desperation and lazy hire. With the NCAA looking at the crap that is women's tennis, maybe someone will get the balls to fire that scumbag Alleva. Then give it 2 years and fire Orgeron. What a cheap hire. I wasn't a fan of Miles, but he was better than this guy. Larry Lockhart · The tiger football team will use these polls as an advantage. LSU has always played very well as the underdog and it looks like that this season will be no different. The writers obviously have very short memories and do not give creedence to the fact that LSU may very well have two of the top coordinators in the nation. The offensive coordinator, hired by Orgeron, last year was responsible for hanging a loss on the eventual national champion, the Clemson Tigers. The defensive coordinator that Coach Orgeron managed to keep at LSU, Dave Aranda, defensively played the Alabama Crimson Tide to its toughest game of the regular season and even gave them their lowest point total on offense, including the national championship game. Sometimes surprises come against those that least expect it. As tiger fans we have a lot to be excited about and for the first time in many years we will have an offense that could become one of the better ones in college football. GO TIGERS!!!!! Doug Schexnayder · So what? He has the comon sense and experience to NOT be predictable...NOT to chew grass insstead of A__....and being from La. is huge...check back with Athlon Dec. 2017...the rest is simply bashing and not helpful or classy in any way. Larry Lockhart · These football magazines never look at the whole picture. They do not consider interim head coaching jobs and these are not a piece of cake. Yes when you only consider the Ole Miss coaching job, Orgeron does not rank very high. Include Orgerons job as interim coach at USC and LSU and I can easily see a top 30 ranking. Next year these magazines will most surely be writing about how great Coach Orgeron is and he will then give all credit of his success to his assistants. Lawrence Parker · Totally agree! Rick Smith · I rank Athlon as the least accurate preseason football magazine in publication. With that said, their opinion of Coach Orgeron and his ability as a head coach means absolutely nothing. Ask Louisville and their Heisman QB how much better Jimbo Fischer is compared to Ed Orgeron! Athlon is a joke.
Why don't you STFU and stop talking shit til the man has a full year under his belt with his new staff! Your bullshit is as old as you are! Damn you can strike a nerve. If you're that unhappy go root for another team!
I know that Orgeron's record as a head coach is not great, but remember he was competing in the SEC West. Not an easy task. I'm willing to give him a second chance with 2 great young coordinators. And I hope he really did learn some things from Pete Carroll.
Orgeron definitely wasn't the first choice for many but I am willing to give him a chance with the two coordinators he has. I am really looking forward to this season. I have my ticket for BYU already
