Howdy! I talked to my friend Tiger Tap yesterday. He said I should start posting again. So thought I'd post today. I joined in 2015, I think but haven't posted much. He said there would be a poster, can't remember his name, but that he will accuse me of being him. Not looking for any enemies, just asking who that is. Regardless, looking for some really good football conversation. I am not happy about the Ed O hire whatsoever. I'm living in Houston right now. Lots of. LSU folks over here & I get home regularly. Tiger Tap & I differed in our replacement opinions. I wanted Tom Herman, he wanted Urban Meyer or Fisher as a fall back coach. Neither of us, or anyone I know here, wanted O. He told me it was gonna happen months before, but I didn't fully believe Alleva would follow through with it. I'm a TAF member & have a few LSU connections through Dr. Sam Nader & a few others. But I'm not Tiger Tap. We both know Dr. Nader, but he's got even more serious connections. Anyway, maybe way too much info, but just wanted to check in. Tiger Tap told me to watch my hindside here, lol. Just scanning the board, I see he's been active. But really just I what to talk some football. I haven't missed many games in years, but am hesitant this year. Got rooked during the Hallman years. Am going to BYU because it's here.
Nice of you to take the time to visit with the mentally challenged. Must be exhausting. You must be Tapped out.
I am really excited about the defense this year. Arden Key is amazing! I really do like coach Dave Aranda & hope he stays put for a fee years. Not sure if that's realistic these days though.
Now that's funny! Tiger Tap can be a tad stubborn, can't he? But he loves it. Occupational hazard maybe, lol. But he's a really good dude. He is the only person I've known personally to call a rushing TD from about midfield. Granted, it was Cecil Collins against Akron, in an easy win, but damned if he didn't read their formation, and Boom!
Battles that he started. Defending the steady deterioration of the football program under the last few years of Miles is a lost cause. As his friend you should try to help him move on. You aren't Cajum by any chance are you. He hates Cajuns. Coach Oeaux wasn't my first choice. Jimbo Fisher was. But once Fisher and Tom Herman removed themselves from consideration who were they going to hire? Don't give me names like Saban and Meyer who were never a possibility. Oeaux was a better choice than any of rhe other names mentioned. Don't be dismayed by his record at Ole Miss. He has learned a lot since then and I believe he will lead the Tigers back to at least near the top of the heap. Remember - Bill Belichick was once run out of Cleveland.
I have to agree with him on Miles last few years. Did he tell you about Joe Alleva withholding plane tickets from some recruits? From what I know, our AD made his life (Miles) miserable the last 3-4 years. There's more to it than a couple plane tickets. If I had my way, I'd have Joe Alleva & about four members of the board of supervisors out on their asses, post-haste. There was severe interference by certain people, besides Joe. Everything's not as clean or clear cut as the BR & NOLA papers would have people believe. Also involves several quarterbacks. I'll just stop there. Yes, I'm Cajun & so is Tiger Tap. We went to LSU together. I've never in my life seen Tiger Tap this pissed off, about anything LSU related. I wouldn't bet on Joe Alleva being around too long. There are two warring factions at LSU & I believe Joe will find himself on the short end of the stick. Anyway, his point on Meyer, was that LSU is a big school & can afford to hire one of the big dogs, like Alabama did. And that's absolutely true. I think his problem with Tom Herman, was mostly about his relatively small sample size. Other than that, we both just wanted a big name. As far as Ed Orgeron, the only thing I can say about him, is that he kept Dave Aranda on staff. I was very disappointed in the hire. I won't lie. I guess we'll see in a 2 years or so, where we are. Just my opinion, but we should have done much, much better. It's hard to believe a 55 year old man who lost that much is suddenly competitive with Nick Saban 9-10 years later. And if he's not, what does that say about us?
Very few fans like Alleva Then why is he always bad mouthing Cajuns and making fun of the way Oeaux talks? I don't care if he speaks Chinese if he wins . Ohio State is one of the biggest dogs. Meyer was never an option. He already knows it's easier to win in the Big 10? 14? than in the SEC and he is one of the highest paid coaches already. I had sort of soured on Herman after Houston mailed in the last half of the season after the Herman is leaving rumors started flying around. I wanted Jimbo. After Jimbo, Saban and Meyer the big name proven winners over a respectable period of time at a big time program are few. I would have explored the possibility of hiring Dabo Sweeney but i don't know if he had any interest. Probably lose him to Alabama once Saban retires anyway. He may or may not be competitive with Saban but whatever he is it is not sudden. O has paid his dues since the Ole Miss debacle and I believe has grown into the role he now occupies. He has the recommendations of two of the all time greats, Pete Carroll and Jimmy Johnson. He is ready to prove he is the right choice. Maybe by default Alleva stumbled into the best hire who wanted the job. If he had hired Larry Fedora or any of the other names circulating I would pay for Alleva's moving expenses myself and so would a lot of other fans. Don't you have eyes and ears? Couldn't you see the pattern of slow depreciation of the quality of football he was putting on the field starting with the 2012 season. It's was one thing to win his way when the talent was better than anybody else except for Bama but when the talent level in the SEC West started to equalize Les was too stubborn to admit that another approach might have better results. If the things that you have done successfully on your job stopped working and your boss told you that if you didn't start doing things a different way he would have to fire you, wouldn't you be smart enough to do what it took to keep your job?
