Oregonians having to pump our own gasoline,.. is freedom? here's the deal, eastern Oregon is very rural, to the point of being unpopulated. Finding an open gas station late at night is tough, paying an attendant all night to pump gas for maybe a couple of customers is a financial loss. We've had "sundown to sun-up" self-serve gas at specific rural county stations since 2015. The new law allows credit card sales at gas stations in counties with less than 40,000 people. It's for financial reasons more than any other,.. but running out of gas in the middle of nowhere is not good. Freedom?.. this isn't, "the Boston tea party".
Still don't, it's been against the law since 1951,.. the original intent being to provide jobs,.. the odd thing is, the law does not apply to diesel fuel, gotta pump that yourself, (while the pimply faced attendant smirks at ya). I hate driving in California, pumping your own gas, it's uncivilized.
Yeah, tell that to the guy (me) who is waiting at an 8 pump gas station at 5 pm. Waiting and waiting....2 employees at the store and a line of people inside wanting to buy things. That is uncivilized.
well, there is that,.. but I live in a small town, so ha, that don't matter to me,.. @mancha you live in Texas? no self serve, has always been popular in Oregon
