OREGON, A MUST WIN NOW ?!? Given all the controversy and turmoil that the Tigers are going through, I think this game has increased in importance. Before, I thought it was an important game, national spotlight, strong start to the season, etc, but if we faltered the team would still have the SEC and be alright with no telling what could happen. I now think this is a must win and that the team has to come together, or I fear that it could have a very negative impact on the rest of the season and conference play. IMO this game has become exponentially more important for LSU's season than it was a week ago. :geaux:
I agree that this game has become much more important to lsu. If we win, especially if it's because jl had a good game, the team will believe that it can compete for a title. If we lose, especially because jl had a pic 6, this teams confidence will be shattered and the anti- miles worms will be screaming for his head. On another level, this is about sec pride. Many of our sec brothern will be watching. They will be expecting us to hold the line aginst the enemy. So many of the haters on the east and west coast are so ready to proclaim that the sec has been dethroaned. The PAC 12 pansys already , in a thread a week or two ago, tried to say how the sec wasn't that much better and pulled stats out their azz to try and prove it to themselves. If lsu loses there will be media queers from the west coast that will say that the sec isn't what it used to be, it's a down year for the sec and anything else they can dream up. Everyone from the sec homeland will be expecting lsu to not let the family down. We must and will win this game. In the hat and general lee I believe. In ware and tyrann I trust.
I agree that this game just got more important for LSU to win. However, from a roster standpoint, LSU just has to look at it like their starting QB got hurt and move on. Lee has to get ready and Mett better be ready to go too. I have an idea we'll see both of them in the Oregon game. I always thought Lee did better off the bench than as a starter. We may see a rotation with Lee and Mett. Losing Shepard hurts too, but we were going to rely on 2-3 of the young WR anyway, so they just have to step up as well. If UNC can get it done with 11 starters lost last season, I am pretty sure this LSU team can get the job done as well. The defense is going to have to carry us, but I feel very confident they are up to that task.
You do realize your thread title reads as if you were saying Oregon must win now? In the sense that LSU has been wounded, and now the pressure is on Oregon not to let their chance slip them by.
Well you got me there sir, a comma would help :thumb: That has been corrected in my post, but I can't figure out how to edit the thread title :dis:. I think you missed my humor though. If I am patriotic, forum etiquette doesn't apply to me. Too soon, huh? opcorn: Anyways, I just see this game being a catalyst. It could either gel our team together and be a good thing or severely damage our confidence in JL and have negative consequences carrying over into the season. Either way, I will be there in Dallas to support our Tigers, coaches, and JL. :miles:
I don't think it's a must win as much as a must play well. With 2 key starters out and with all the other stuff that's happened this summer if Lee plays well and we lose a hard fought close game then that's a moral victory. And NO, I don't like moral victories either but we need to establish our offensive identity for the season ahead. IMO the first must win game of the season after all that's happened is the Miss state game.
I think it's a "will win"...especially now with the huge grudge LSU is carrying. I'm sure the team can't wait to unload on somebody...anybody...and Oregon just happens to be next.
