A duck fan with an agenda..........just kidding. There's nothing wrong with discussing concerns about matchups with upcoming opponents. I just wouldn't have lead off with it. Welcome to the board!!!
Oregon's Trenches Duck fan here. Not here to sh- talk, just talk football. To answer some questions about Oregon's D-line, We're replacing 3 of our 4 starters from a year ago. The only real losses here are Brandon Baar at Tackle, and Kenny Rowe at D-End/Drop End. Bair was a great stoppr up the middle, but had speed to the outside. at 6' 7", he knocked down a ton of passes last year. Ricky Heimuli will most likely replace him at tackle. At 6' 4" 321, Ricky is 50 pounds heavier, and has been compared to Haloti Ngata (Combination of size/power and speed). He's had quite a bit of experience, but we'll see how he does going at it full time. Dion Jordan will most likely replace Kenny Rowe. Dion has shown flashes of brilliance, but hasn't shown to be real consistent yet. He's a converted TE with a ton of speed. At 6' 7" he'll be tough to throw over as well. There are a few back up's that may earn time, as the Defense will most likely play 18-20 guys in a regular rotation to keep them fresh. There's a lot of concern out here that LSU's O-Line will have there way with D line. I disagree. Much of that concern is coming out of the Spring game, where the teams are watered down, and play vanilla. If you watch the individual play of the possible starters, you can see that they should be solid. Bottom line, on paper the D-Line looks to be reloading. the players replacing the starters have a lot of experience, but stepping into the role full time is always tough. Our LB's are a bigger concern. We had 2 guys graduate, but the LB's left are great athletes. At the end of Spring ball it looked as if the LB's were set, but one of the tentative starters acted like a 20 year old and got in the dog house with the coach after a MIP. We'll see where that goes. Our DB's and safeties are the definite strength of the defense. Our O-Line is another story! Well there ya go. Not super in depth, but a bit of info from here in Eugene. Cheers!
This is significant. 6-7 seems kind of tall for defensive linemen. They do knock down passes, but they get rooted off the line on the run.
Normally I would think the same about a 6'7'' DT but this is a big guy With a big wide base. The comparisons to Ngati are not An exxageration. Nothing will be easy against the ducks but I like our match ups in most spots. Its not the Ducks personnel that I'm so worried about, though talented, it's the scheme and pace even tho auburn handled it pretty well and regardless what people think, were by no means the most talented team in the SEC last year. We need to get Ware going from the get go and the advantage there is that he is no one trick Pony. I'm getting off topic- main point- we need to run. I am not a naive tiger fan that believes JJ will ever be a guy that will wins games on his own no matter how "confident" he is in the spring. This may seem harsh but JJ is a deer in headlights and the qb position is the only reason we aren't a unanimous #1. Oregon is a must win. We won't run thru SEC unscathed IMO. Plus no LSU fan wants to hear a bunch of ****e about us being overrated or all that BS.
ASD many on this site cut often and think little of it a large group here don't have jobs but spell well- they let you know that often also just post and don't worry about the group as a large body - just enjoy what you want and throw out the rest we are all Tigers fans but just like family - you can't kill the bad ones you just have to live with em !! :milesmic:
I think the Duck game will be a very hard game to win. They are a very good football team and have a very good staff. They will do what they need to do not to have to push us but out hussle and out think us. They for sure will up tempo like the Ducks love to do and dink and dunk down the field. If we have what I think we have I think we will win by 10 ! The problem is that this is our first game and being at Atlanta last year we did not have what I thought we had. So we shall just see but I think this could be our best team since 07 along with 90% of the Tiger nation. I think our D will be the best D in the SEC or right there with the Bama D. I think our running attack will set up the pass this year which will set up JJ for what he does best. I drink LSU kool-aid often and it is always Purple !!!!!!!
Thanks TigerCliff, I know what u mean. I dont take it personally as I said, I have followed the Forum religiously so I guess I have prepared myself for some of what will Eventually come my way. I agree...we are all part of the tiger family but even family doesn't get along
Yes I'm aware I mis spelled some things. I'm getting out thoughts and typos happen so please ignore that stuff. We are chatting, not writing a thesis
