I will be pulling for the condoms. They are going to be sneaky good this year, if they keep a lot of players for next year look out.
I always have a tough time deciding who to root for when USC plays Notre Dame because I hate them both.
LSU should be playing USC--just sayin'. I feel like fans of both teams would love to see us finally play. (I know we had an epic game in Tiger Stadium back in the '70's, but I was in elementary, so I don't really remember it.)
Was in 81 I think. LSU lost 17-12 because a bad call gave USC a first down to keep their winning drive alive.
I was there and sitting in the USC fan section by chance. They were serious hipsters, a Raybans-at-night bunch of fans without a lot of SEC-style raucous noise. They were seriously confident of success with a Heisman running back and a bit surprised at the stiff Tiger defense. Very laid back, but they were sweating bullets and looking at a loss until the ref gave them that mulligan.
Yep. The tackler's hand passed in front of the facemask, but he never grabbed it. Would have been a huge sack and ended their drive.
Not only that but a USC lineman moved before the play started. It should have been stopped right there.
7 seconds in, #77....definitely grabs the facemask. But it was 3rd down, n'est-ce-pas? I have to think we would have gone for it on 4th. Why not? We'd already driven most of the field and punting or a field goal would have done nothing. A better argument but still kinda lame. Plenty of calls go one way or the other. Still a great game.
