I want to get see how the residents here feel about 2008 and beyond. This year was the perfect storm. RP left and no adequate QB stepped in, Pelini left and promoting from within failed, senior leadership left and no one took over, etc... The big question is are the grey skies gonna clear up and put the happy face back on the fans or is this a sign that Miles is another Mike Archer and big changes are needed.
This offseason will be a big harbinger of things to come. It all depends on what decisions are made in the upcoming weeks.
This season was the perfect storm and we faired it rather well considering. This offseason and next season will go ALONG way in determining Miles future here. Does he pick himself and the team up and brush off the dirt and get back to it next season OR is this the new norm for LSU football. Will Sheppard walk on the wine that use to be water before he turned it? How many recruits get scaried off by this season? Will Les be able to get rid of the CoDcs and if so who in the hell is out there? I will say this...this is gonna be the MOST intresting offseason that we have had in a LONG TIME!
I voted that it was a speed bump, but I think my mood will change if we do nothing about the co-defensive coordinator situation. I can live with what's going on with the offense, I mean, what do you expect when you're throwing two freshman to the wolves. On the defensive side, though, I don't see the excuse. We have WAY too much talent on defense to be performing like we are. Over 50 in several games? Ole Miss scores 31 on us in our house? Troy? Some bumps can be expected when changing coordinators, but this is a bit excessive. If Miles doesn't make a change at coordinator, I will start to lose some confidence in his decision making. I'll have a very hard time seeing it as anything other than being too loyal to his guys.
I hope just a speed bump, but you have to consider that there are some mighty good coaches in the SEC now. Keeping the talent will be a challenge, and leadership will play a big part of that. That is all. Good day.
You're missing 1 option IMO. 2008 was just a speed bump. However, I think it may take more than 1 offseason to correct the 2 glaring issues this team has. If we bring in a new DC, it will possibly take a little while for our guys to adjust well enough to the new scheme to become dominant again. We'll also still be green at QB. This is something that may take time for a guy to develop into a top teir SEC QB, whoever that guy happens to be. This may cost us in the close games that are bound to happen in the SEC. I think we will make the right corrections, and once again rise to the top, and believe Miles is the right man for this job. The future is still quite bright for us. I don't think we get blown out 3 times again either, although our record may look similar to this year's, we'll be a much better team.
of course our future is bright, I predict a BCS bowl next year, if not the BCSCG. We have a wealth of talent and a great coach, who will make adjustments next season. We have some hard circumstances this season, starting with RP and the Defense. When you lose the leadership that we lost on both sides of the ball, you just cant get it done like we should. Also, some pretty average performances from big time players this season. Byrd, D-Line, O-line(at times) and punt and kick returners. However, you have to be pumped by Patrick Peterson, Ryan Baker, Terrance Toliver,, Richard Dickson, and Barksdale.
Wow, I hope I'm wrong but I'm the only one that has voted for the fix action taken longer than one year.
