I think the reason basketball doesn't get the support other sports do is pretty evident, especially if you got a chance to see or listen to tonights game. 87-52 Arkansas? That is pathetic. Bo Spencer went down in the first half, and i know Brady pretty much left no depth to CTJ, but damn. There are some Louisiana High School teams that could have hung with LSU tonight. I think CTJ will right the ship, but like it has been said in other threads and other posts, consistency is what this program needs, being in the top 4 in the SEC year in a year out, and competing for the West, and the SEC overall. BTW, Arkansas is a pretty good team, but losing by 45 points is ridiculous.
I went to games when Shaq was there. I was in the Deaf Dome. That is laughable that you think LSU baseball can ever compare to that in your wildest dreams. It can't. Sorry. And I lived on campus for 4 years and lived right by campus for 6 years after that. Even during the glory years of LSU baseball when we were winning all those titles, the buzz was higher on campus for the basketball games even though we didn't do as well as our baseball team. I just talked to some current LSU students the other day, and only one of them has gone to a baseball game... all of them have been to a basketball game.
Easily. The people saying that baseball is more popular at LSU are only saying that because they want to distance themselves from how horrible we look on the basketball court this year. But there is no doubt basketball is #2 at LSU and we will be back!
Same with baseball. They sell out just as many tickets as the crappy basketball team, but only half that show up to the games... unless it a big game.
Even now, LSU basketball games have a more exciting atmosphere than LSU baseball. That's why LSU basketball games get on TV and LSU baseball games do not.
No, average attendance it what matters. It all comes down to how exciting each game is and who wants to see it. LSU baseball games don't even make it on TV. LSU basketball games do.
The stadium is a limiting factor because they knew baseball is not as popular at LSU as basketball is. That's why they built such a small stadium for our baseball team, even though it is brand-new. If they thought our baseball team could have sold out more, they would have built a bigger baseball stadium.
