You will never see THAT crowd at a 30 point beatdown...I don't care who you are.

That had to be great to see. Shortly after the 2nd half started, ESPN showed a clip of LSU unfurling the banner with Macklin's number on it... and then the camera showed Macklin with his face buried in his hand crying tears of joy and gratitude. It was a very touching moment... and the announcers were talking about what an emotional ceremony it was. That would have been great to see in person.

Maybe it was great to see in person, but as it turned out, very few people know. They turned the lights off for dramatic effect or something during the preparation, but couldn't get them back on. The ceremony took place lit only by the advertisements, which were of course exempt from whatever took place. It was a shame for such a meaningful celebration.

College hoops is more popular than college baseball, even at LSU. That's why the P-Mac holds 14,000 while the new Box only holds 9,000. And although LSU doesn't have a basketball program like Kentucky or Duke, LSU does have one of the finest basketball programs in the NCAA.

Only 16 NCAA teams have been to more Final Fours than LSU has. Our basketball team has won 10 SEC Championships, which is #2 in SEC history behind only Kentucky.

Since 2000, the LSU basketball team has won just as many SEC Championships (00, 06, 09) as our football team (01, 03, 07) and our baseball team (03, 08, 09). LSU's basketball team made to the Final Four in 2006. Our basketball team also had four guys win SEC Player of the Year since 2000 (Swift in 00, Bass in 05, Davis in 06, Thornton in 09).

Of course, historically, LSU has had some of the best basketball players in history. Numerous publications put LSU's all-time team up at the top with the other greatest all-time teams out there (UCLA, UNC, whoever).

    False

First, the p-mac is rarely full. Second, there are far more home games in baseball. Also, the new Alex Box holds 10,150 not 9,000.

Last year baseball attendance was over 400k where as basketball was about 190k.

The baseball team plays like 40 home games while the basketball team only plays like 20 home games.

If the #1 preseason-ranked LSU baseball team can only get 10K at max capacity, and the basketball team was able to average 10K without even being ranked in the preseason Top 25... what does that say?

BATON ROUGE -- The LSU men’s basketball team... was one of 43 Division I schools to average at least 10,000 fans

But...I thought LSU had the greatest fans in the world and support their team no matter what? Even when the football team is losing to Troy...they would NEVER leave!

That's because most people are mesmerized at people running all the time (basketball), and think that's a better sport than baseball because there is more movement.
Baseball is the better sport. :)...because I played it. :)
BTW, I was asked to play point guard for Cecilia, but didn't because basketball overlapped baseball season and I didn't want to miss any baseball.

No, and I don't expect that...but I do expect a more lively welcome to a team that was about to play the #3 team in the country AND who had a 8-1 lead early.

It was a great experience and the big reason I wanted to go.

The lights off was for dramatic effect for the presentation. Spotlights were used on Macklin and his team. As for the light issues it wasn't until they were getting ready for game time that it was an issue.

For what it's worth I never leave early. Stayed at this game until the end as well as the mentioned Troy game. If you don't believe me see avatar. That is 3 of my kids after the game. :geaux:
