They are having a discussion on CFB Daily: The Experts on ESPNU right now. They was a consensus on saying that a 1 loss LSU running the table or a 1 loss Bama (e.g., losing to LSU and then winning out) would be in the BCS title game over an undefeated Ohio State (in the event Oregon OR an ACC team runs the table). A&M isn't in the discussion since it would require Alabama losing to LSU and suffer another loss (which isn't going to happen unless Auburn improves dramatically). And I wholeheartedly agree. The computer polls will suffer the rest of the way for Ohio State. No mistaking that. LSU is going to be top 2 or 3 in the computer polls if they win out, and 1st if everybody else suffers a loss as well (Clemson/FSU/Oregon). Michigan's loss was devastasting for Ohio State. So there is your first BCS teaser for the season.
So the focus needs to be on the potential ACC Champ and PAC-12 Champ, as we would need for one of them to have 1 loss. Clemson: FSU, @Maryland, @Virginia, Ga. Tech, Citadel, @South Carolina, ACC CG (Va. Tech or Miami) FSU: @Clemson, NC State, Miami, @Wake Forest, Syracuse, Idaho, @Florida, ACC CG (Va. Tech or Miami) Oregon: Washington State, UCLA, @Stanford, Utah, @Arizona, Oregon State, PAC-12 CG (UCLA or Arizona State) UCLA: @ Stanford, @Oregon, Colorado, @Arizona, Washington, Arizona State, @USC, PAC-12 CG (Oregon or Stanford) If UCLA wins out to go 13-0, I would hand them the crystal ball at that point. That's a brutal schedule.
So are we Mizzou fans right now? Could beating an undefeated Missouri in the SECCG be the boost we need, or does it matter who it is?
Yes, it helps if they miraculously go undefeated. That would most certainly put them probably 1 spot behind us in the polls going into the SEC CG and potentially ahead of us in the BCS rankings. But I like this alternative: LSU gets it's revenge on a 2 loss Georgia team in the SEC CG. That's an even better bargaining chip than the "No loss in regulation" 2007 LSU Tigers. Georgia would easily be in the top 10 at that point.
you think so? i dont, when people say the media and ESPN hate LSU, its truth to it. the Bama love fest is strong and if its oh st and Oregon undefeated LSU is not getting in.
the polls have ALWAYS loved LSU We're almost always the highest ranked 1 loss team or 2 loss team from the past 7 or 8 years. There is definite respect for LSU.
LSU's computer polls will be at a minimum 3 spots better than Ohio State. So if LSU is one full spot behind Ohio State in the polls (1. Oregon, 2. Ohio State, 3. LSU), the 3 spot difference in the computer polls will make up for it and push LSU past Ohio State in the BCS ranking.
