--last year, they took UVA to overtime at UVA (UVA won 21–20 in OT), and UVA had a solid team last year, they went 8–5, beat Florida State at Florida State, and went to the Chick-fil-A Bowl (Peach Bowl)

--this year Idaho has a new QB, #3 Dominique Blackman (6-5, 255), who is a big QB like JaMarcus Russell (6-6, 260) and Byron Leftwich (6-5, 250). he's currently #3 in the NCAA with a 81.1% completion percentage and #23 in the NCAA with a 164.51 passer rating. as a recruit:
    Rivals #27 pro-style QB, 3-star
    Scout #58 QB, 3-star
offers to Oregon, Nebraska, Washington (he originally went to Washington), Arizona State, Arizona, Kansas State, etc

here's an article the Advocate wrote about him:
    http://theadvocate.com/sports/3889644-32/idaho-qb-dominique-blackman-grew

regarding LSU, he said: "I’m looking forward to going against the best team in the nation," Blackman said. "It’s the opportunity of a lifetime"

--Idaho also has a talented running back in #5 Ryan Bass (5-10, 214), a transfer from Arizona State. coming out of high school, he was a Parade All-American and Second-Team All-USA by USA Today. as a recruit:
    Rivals #2 all-purpose back, 4-star, #91 on the Rivals100
    Scout #31 RB, 4-star
offers to Nebraska, Michigan State, Arizona State, Arizona, Oregon State, etc

--like LSU, Idaho features an All-American punter in #13 Bobby Cowan (2011 All-American after finishing second in the nation in punting average with 46.41 per kick... his longest were a a 76-yard punt and a 71-yard punt). he was also a two-time all-state quarterback in high school in Washington, and Idaho lists him as a "Quarterback/punter" so I image he's one to watch when it comes to fake punts

the last time Idaho played a team from South Louisiana was in 2004 when they beat down UL-Lafayette 38-25, and Idaho was a 3-9 team that season

"Their quarterback is a good player, who's big and athletic with a very accurate arm," Miles said of Blackman. "He has good receivers who did a nice job of catching the football. This will be a good test for us. We are going to have to get after the quarterback because we can't allow him to sit back in the pocket and throw the ball without any pressure."

    Idaho coach Robb Akey:

"We have nothing to lose. We're going to go pin our ears back and go down there and get after it. If we don't win the football game then we made everybody happy because they all told us we couldn't. Should we play our tails off and make some things happen and you get that opportunity, then we could be the favorite football team in America - with maybe the exception of the State of Louisiana.''

    Tiger_Fan,

Are you really trying to convince us that Idaho is a big threat?

A lot of work you have put into it.

    Funny Stuff!

i expect it to be similar to when Idaho went to Lincoln to play Nebraska in 2010. that year, Nebraska went to the Big 12 Championship Game in Cowboy Stadium, where they almost beat Oklahoma (L 20-23). earlier in the season against Idaho (a 6-7 team), Nebraska won 38-17 (Nebraska had 471 yards, Idaho only 279)

...or when Idaho went to Los Angeles play Southern Cal in 2007. that year, USC finished #2 in the nation and won the Rose Bowl in dominating fashion. earlier in the season against Idaho (a 1-11 team), USC won 38-10 (USC had 420 yards, Idaho had 253)

but, it makes the game a lot more interesting when you actually know something about the players on the other team. although i have pretty much committed myself to watching the Idaho game now, i was seriously considering skipping it (there is a huge high school football game at the same time I want to go to, and there are also more interesting NCAA games going on at the same time...Florida at Tennessee, Southern Cal at Stanford, Notre Dame at Michigan State, and Arizona State at Missouri)

also, it's not like our players and coaches are just blowing off their film study of Idaho because we are 42-point favorites... our players and coaches have been studying their team and their players plenty. while Idaho doesn't have the level of talent we do, of course, they are still much better players than i ever was. i was never All-State and i never got a Div1 scholarship like all the players on the Idaho team, and all the players i played with/against that were All-State and got a Div 1 scholarship were awesome

What I found out about Idaho tonight is they have a ballsy QB who has some skills and doesn't know that Tigers bite really hard when you piss them off.
