There is a lot of truth to this, but the thing is that the CBO is the most accurate. In these discussions there has to be an agreed-upon source for which every agrees to use. Over time, the CBO has been the least partisan and most consistent.

As a rule of thumb, I usually avoid any source that avoids using it. The CBO was established as a non-partisan group and the 250 employees are hired there on the merits of their abilities alone. Party affiliation is not a consideration. That alone makes them the most attractive for those of us unencumbered by partisanship.

I guess we won't know the actual expense for many years but I doubt it will cost less. I believe we've heard a lot of fuzzy math in an attempt to pass the plan.

More people may obtain health insurance but will we expect anything from them in return or are we going to continue to maintain an unproductive segment of socienty that is given just enough government cheese to keep their votes in the back pocket of Democrats?

This is one of the issues upon which the narrow-minded republicans are foolishly painting themselves into an extreme right corner. They assume that all of the uninsured are welfare recipients worthy of their scorn. Those people have already been medicaid recipients for decades, the health bill doesn't change that.

Actually most of the uninsured are working people who aren't offered company insurance and simply can't afford high personal premiums at low wages and just need to get a plan that offers group rates that are affordable. Most are minimum-wage to $12 and part-timers, but who else is going to do our food service, sanitation, and janitorial work? We need them and we need them healthy.

Another large group are the gainfully self-employed that balk at the very high prices for non-group coverage, they are also willing to pay if they can get the rates that group recipients get. Students are in the same boat, they don't make enough money to insure themselves and get dropped from their parents coverage and endure a gap of several years until they graduate and get hired. There are widows in their 50's, dropped from their hard-working husbands old policies and too young for medicare that go uninsured for years. A huge group from all walks of life, including conservatives, are people with pre-existing conditions, unable to be offered insurance that they are willing to pay for.

All of these people vote and they will remember who got them covered and who will try to take it away if they return to power.

Obama, Pelosi, etc. knew that the projected cost would be well over a trillion but that would derail the healthcare bill so they cooked the books to get it under a trillion. It was obvious that that's what was happening. I just didn't think they were so arrogant as to let the cat out of the bag so soon. Don't believe for a minute that they thought this thing would cost under a trillion. They Fing lied to get the bill passed. Period.

This is how one term presidents are made, so it's a good thing.

Well, they don't run the CBO. The CBO made the first estimate and they also made the second.

you are conceding that obama lied, but you dont care because you want to play petty political games? or is your argument that obama did not lie because republicans lie? what do republicans have to do with this anyways? you apparently dont give a damn about crippling our nation with massive spending, as long as you can try to catch someone in an inconsisencey. you are the problem. you care about combative politics but not principles.
