the CBO underestimation was overestimated and reported as such yesterday.

"But the budget office now says that about $86 billion of that total represents funding for ongoing programs, which analysts routinely assume will be continued from year to year. Those programs include grants to community health centers and Indian health care."

so its really a 29 billion underestimation. about 0.3%. quite acceptable to me.

 

Did anybody actually believe the CBO?

 

It will probably still cost less than leaving things the way that they are now and more people will have health insurance/coverage.

They are generally regarded as the most accurate and unbiased when discussing these projections.

 

The problem with CBO projections, and the reason they never end up close to reality isn't that the CBO uses poor methodologies. It is because subsequent administrations repeal taxes and levy new ones.

If everything in a peice of legislation remained unchanged the CBO projections would be great. That isn't reality. That is why we shouldn't care what the CBO projects.

 

And when the bloody hell did GWB backers, of all people, get so damn sensitive about elected officials lying? My impression was that they favored such a tendency.

 

because they don't care about the person, or what he or she does, as long as there is a little R next to his or her name.
