Burrow could be a decent QB. I don't see an excellent QB in him, but definitely someone that could help us win a lot of games. But if this is going to be a sub par offensive line, we'll never get to how how good he can be.
The O-line basically got Mett killed and he still put up huge numbers. My point being that there is hope for the passing game. But just a sliver. In my mind that sliver of hope comes from the fact that Burrow wasn't even on campus until fall camp. It takes time to sync with the receivers. Especially if they have trouble catching the ball. I think they will figure it out because the talent looks like its there based on the Miami game. Will they figure it out in the next 7 days? I would say doubtful. With that said, we have two, possibly three, ingredients that can take us a long way. The defense and special teams seem to be there, possibly the run game as the third. If Burrow, the protection, and receivers can come around the sky is the limit. Remember, we don't need to go undefeated to make the playoffs. Losing to what looks to be a very solid Auburn team on the road won't be the end of the season since we get at least one mulligan by being in this division. Not to mention we could still actually win with that kid with the giant leg.
That part of the offense isn’t highly repeatable, especially against real competition. See the second half. This was a very discouraging display that kills most of the excitement O built in the win over Miami. No recruit is going to be excited by that offense. Doesn’t seem like we should be having this kind of hiccup in game 2 against a FCS team. Our offense couldn’t stay on the field and our D had trouble getting off. We were dominated by air.
Concerned that Burrow didn’t slide and ran too upright. He left himself open to hits too long; AU will knock his ass out of the game if he continues that. He also couldn’t seem to sense pressure around him very well, leading to incomplete passes (or as refs in the past few games have said, unless there is undisputed video evidence we’re going to call it a fumble).
We were never beating Bama or UGA this season anyway. This coming weekend will say a lot about LSU and how this season will go in terms of SEC play. Lose on the Plains and we’re definitely staring 9-3 in the face. A few other games could drastically change that.
I agree and I thought it was maybe him trying to hit some deep throws knowing it was an inferior opponent and he assumed he would have more time. He didn't hold the ball against Miami. As for his running style, he's going to die if he doesn't stop that.
