Saints had a definite need at linebacker passed on Queen drafted a fricking center. Once again the Bag Heads avoid a viable LSU pick. May they go 0-16 forever. F em
We got Brady from the Saints, so we got that going for us... Queen was a question mark for most teams hense he did not go in the first round. GMs are first round bust biased, because that is where they are really graded, you can't miss in the first round. And not having a pro day and a complete process hurt Queen and many other players. He wasn't even a starter at the start of this season for us, but so great in the 9 games as a starter. And that's the main issue, small sample size. And literally Sean Peyton had been talking about interior linemen leading up to draft non stop. I think they had a plan, and executed it. We will see if that works out for the Saints. And if Queen becomes a perennial pro-bowler then you for sure can say this perceived LSU bias effected them. But I would say they have a process, and sometimes the chips fall where they fall in the draft and there is no bias. I think many just want to see them take any favorite player from LSU because we are already fans. So the bias is on the fans side.
I think people forget that for the last 2 years, we've been bounced from the playoffs at home. Why? Putting aside the no-call for a second, the biggest problem in both games was how the interior of the o-line got manhandled. Couldn't run the ball, and even more importantly, pressure up the middle is Brees' Achilles heel. Get in his face, and his lack of height is completely exploited. The Super Bowl window with Brees is still open, and Payton has addressed the biggest holes in the window screen with the last 2 drafts, and by picking up Sanders in free agency. I'd have loved to see Queen in B&G, but the middle was a bigger issue. And don't forget, the grade on Zach Baum was 1st round; we stole him with 2 3rd round picks.
