We seem to have quite a few Defensive Lineman, What are the chances of using one or two on the offensive side of the ball? Is there that much different in technique or about the same? Just a thought......
I believe we have done it in the past. In fact I think Steven Peterman was a DT as a freshman then swapped to the O Line and is still playing in the NFL. There is another kid, I forget his name who was a 4 star Les recruited from Michigan who is playing in the NFL now. It can't be done quickly taking at least a spring and summer.
I do remember that now that you mention it, Hmm, did Nick do that? I remember Nick swapping someone like that, seems like it was a TE or OT to DT back then also?
Nick did swap Peterman, but Les made the switch on the kid from Michigan. I remember because the kid's mother died and he was homesick or something and Les took him under his wing. There was a nice article about it in the Morning Advocate.
i like your "hope" but has romney says, "hope is not a stratagy". and by the looks of our offense the last several games, all clm has is that same hope. i can't help but think clowney's chances at the heisman may increase after this game today. we've had HUGE problems on that side since faulk went down.
I agree we can't rely on "hope". We do have expectations though. We can expect the new starters to fill their role and perform up to the level of the original starters. They have had time to practice and fit together. I thought I saw some improvement in line play last week. I thought the pass blocking was better with fewer missed assignments. A team with the depth of LSU should have the athletes to not have a severe drop off. We have had enough time. Whether that will happen is unknown but that doesn't mean it won't or shouldn't. This is a charge that coaches and players have and need to embrace. They are no longer second team back ups but first team leaders. This is a test for the team (coaches & players)and its mettle.
