Ok i wanted to start this thread b/c it seems there's a large majority of people that hold Ole Miss as no threat.

It seems everyone is laughing off ole miss despite the fact they return 15 or 16 starters and have a pretty easy schedule. plus they beat us last year and this year, the game is in oxford (although i think recent history shows we tend to play them worse in BR).

whether on the internet, the radio or talking with friends about our schedule and who we might lose to, almost everyone laughs off ole miss and when i ask why they say "because they are ole miss".

nutt usually does better in an underdog role so this year the expectations in oxford may not help but......

Is anyone worried about Ole Miss?

I think Oxford is going to be fired up when we go there because they haven't beaten us in Oxford since 98. As far as the team, Snead is a good quarterback, i don't think he is the second coming of Eli Manning, but he is capable. I am not sold on their running game, and losing Oher will be huge. They will have a tough defense, but i think from top to bottom LSU is better in every category except qb. The pressure will be too much for Nutt this season and Ole Miss will lose 3 SEC games this year.

Chavis' Tennessee defenses had a reputation for run-stopping but giving up big pass plays to top passing attacks. I think LSU only faces two top quarterbacks--Tebow and Snead.

Their schedule is pretty easy (their toughest games are at home against LSU and Bama). I still don't think that they are deep enough. I think that they are an injury or two away from being slightly above average in the SEC.

I've said all along that I think LSU can/will beat Florida and will probably drop 2 games to an Ole Miss and/or a Bama ending the regular season with a 10-2 record.

If both teams are 100% healthy I think LSU outlasts Ole Myth at their place b/c of depth, physicality, offensive playcalling and defensive toughness. They aren't a team to look past and I look forward to this game.:tigereye:

considering their returning talent, QB, houston nutt and the fact that the game's in oxford -- i say that we should take them seriously. i mean we loss to friggin' UK in 2007 and still won the BCS. anything is possible.

I don't think we should take them lightly by any means...but I think they are HIGHLY overrated. FWIW, we may also be a little overrated...but I don't think we are.

Like Mr. Sensation stated...they are shallow. If the are somehow able to run the SEC gauntlet without injuries, they will likely finish 10-2. With their schedule, that's still enough to qualify them as overrated. That schedule with a really good team should find them 11-1...possibly 12-0.

I haven't heard anybody saying they won't have a good season. (record wise) I've just heard people saying they're overrated...and they are...even if they do have a good season. Remember, a good season by Ole Myth standards is 8-5. Last season they were 9-4, and you'd think they won the :crystal:!

If the question is whether we should take them seriously, of course we should. It would be stupid not to.

The original question is whether we should be worried about them, and that depends on how our D performs this year. If the secondary becomes really good then we can handle Ole Miss. Snead is a good QB, but he doesn't have many targets to get the ball to. Our offense should be able to put up points on Ole Miss, so I don't think that's a concern, either.

We should start worrying about Ole Miss exactly six days before we play them...at least the team should wait till then.
