Ole Miss to play Boise St. in 2011

I read this in the paper the other day.

It's a one-game deal that will cost the Rebels a hefty $900,000 payout, which is easily the largest in program history. But the good news for the Rebels is that UM will not make a return trip to Boise and play on the famous blue turf field that's proved to be a tough venue for opponents.

It will be the first meeting between the two schools in football.
"It's a terrific matchup," UM athletic director Pete Boone said. "We always want at least one non-conference game to have some regional and national appeal and this certainly fits that description."

The game, which is scheduled for Sept. 3, was partly brokered by ESPN. The television network helped the Rebels move several games on their 2011 schedule to make things work for both programs. A kickoff time was not announced.
ESPN is entering the second year of a 15-year, $2.25 billion television deal with the SEC and has already shown a very hands-on approach when finding interesting matchups.

UM associate athletic director John Hartwell said the $900,000 payout was worth it because he considers the game a certain sellout. Plus, he expects Boise State to devour most, if not all, of the 7,500 tickets reserved for the opposing team's fans.
