We'll be in that situation this year, for sure. It's just a matter of when. Washington State (not U) has an epidemic on campus right now and was urging people not to go to the game if they felt bad at all.

Something like this could have national championship implications if a team gets the flu at the right time. (Come on Gators !!!.)

That is so true. I wonder if a coach would be willing to stoop to biological warfare to gain an advantage over a team.

yeah, i read about wash state and my first thought was "oh god, we were in that state". it could mess up a teams season.

may as well get it over early in the season, rather than later, especially when our schedule is not as demanding and before the winter when secondary pneumonias will be more likely.

I read a few weeks ago that they also cancelled their fan day due to the swine flu.

It could be the pills but I was sitting here thinking...what if there was a major outbreak of this thing....could the government shut down both the college and NFL seasons?

And I am talking epidemic outbreak here (football might be the last thing on our minds) but as a means to control the spread.

    just a question

I don't think the H1N1 influenza is that bad compared with other pandemics. From what I hear, it only lasts a couple of days before you begin to feel better...that's pretty mild for true influenza.

Some people have died from it though (cytokene storm response) and that gets a lot of press. I wouldn't imagine that it would get to the point of canceling football seasons.

I think Gumborue has a lot more knowledge and insight on this than I do.
