They are probably the most underrated team in the SEC. They're 7-4 a year after going winless in the SEC and have spent the better part of their season adjusting to new coaching. They haven't lost by more than seven points all year. They beat Florida AT Florida. They are a couple of missed field goals away from being ranked pretty high, and they have been better to close out this last half of the season. To those that choose to only look at it as "LSU lost to an unranked team" and start questioning where we are in the pecking order from now on, you should take that into consideration. Every year is different. This year is different from last year, and in all the ways we expected. Next year will be different than this year, and all signs are positive. I'll admit that it's raining in Tiger Stadium. But I'm not seeing any sky falling.
They sure are a good team. Very disiplined and well coached. I think coach Nutt is reaping the rewards of Orgeron's recruits. Their D-line was impressive- especially their NT(name?). He dominated last night. I think he is better than the NT from Alabama(Cody?) Much more athletic for such a big guy.
Nutt has done a good job this year. Good example of why a school (Arky) shouldnt be so quick to pull the trigger and end up with a worse coach (Petrino). No way I would swap Nutt for Petrino.
Ole Miss is a good team. So what? we should beat good teams too! I still think we should evaluate at the end of the season. But 1. every opposing QB is putting up big numbers on us. 2. We're getting no QB pressure or sacks. 3. DB's are playing soft and getting out of position and picked apart. 4. Recievers are dropping way too many passes. We're too inconsistent and not making plays in every phase of the ballgame. (Dropped passes, dropped interceptions, missed tackles, mental breakdowns.) I hope Miles does a thorough evaluation of the entire football program at the end of the season and makes needed changes.
Number one and three are the same thing, and number two is probably fixed if number three is fixed...so you only have the basic two points of consideration that everyone else does. One is that our defensive coaches suck. The second (your point number four) can be attributed to new quarterbacks. The QBs and receivers have been swapped so much this year that it's no surprise that they haven't developed any kind of chemistry and consistency with each other. The only QB that has seen substantial playing time spends entire games sitting by himself when the offense is off the field when he SHOULD be trying to fire up his receivers and O-Line...getting on the same page. IF Miles does the right thing about the defensive coaches, then that problem is going to get solved. Jefferson coming in and taking leadership of the offense like he LOOKS like he's going to do will fix the other. Charles Scott looks like he'll be coming back. We still have Keiland. LaFell has become a beast and Tolliver is just scratching the surface. We have found a four-year starter at cornerback in PP and a hard-hitting LB coming up the ranks in the very near future...all of which will only be augmented by the best recruiting class LSU has ever seen. How's that for an evaluation?
