I agree with everyone who thinks this was a good hire for Ole Miss. Nutt is a solid coach that may come with a little baggage, but I think he is above what Ole Miss can bring in right now. Arkansas might come to regret losing Nutt, but I'm sure they'll do their best to throw money at the problem.

The West got a ton better the second Ole Miss fired Coach O. With a high level hire by Arkansas and possibly a new coach at LSU, things should be brutal. Scary.

I think it is a good hire for Ole Miss. Nutt could dramatically improve Ole Miss’ record in year one and that will likely make MSU’s continued rebuilding and improvement more difficult.

Anyone know how they worked out the status of the old DC, John Thompson? I hear the Pete Boone insisted or was insisting that Thompson be retained. He was at Arkansas for a while. I don’t know the particulars of his leaving. Does anyone know about his relationship with Nutt?

    Re: Nutt to Ole Miss?

Pretty funny. I'd love to see Ole Miss beat Arkansas next year.

I can see Bower anywhere...he has done more with talent most other schools did not want than anyone I know of. He has turned down good offers and more money...He made $500,000 a year.....I wish OM had hired him. They could have doubled his salary and still saved money. I would have loved to see him at OM building the same type teams he did at USM and then getting them to play USM. And kicking butt, might I add. I feel he will surely land on his feet running if he chooses to continue coaching. 14 straight winning seasons and a bowl game in 10 of the last 11 years...........What coach is doing better? Sure, it's CUSA. But that's thier limitations, not his.

Thought this was funny, didn't see it posted anywhere and didn't want to start a new thread with it.

It's a small world, after all
What if some recently 'relocated' coaches met up?

If some of college football's recently "relocated" coaches ran into each other at the airport:
Houston Nutt: Ed, is that you? Ed Orgeron? What on earth are you doing in handcuffs? [To TSA agent:] Why is this man in custody?
Agent: He became belligerent when one of the flight attendants offered him a pillow -- started shouting "Everyone's a comedian!" when the poor man was only trying to do his job. He seems to have cooled off, so we're going to release him. [To Orgeron:] Here's your shirt back, sir.
Nutt: Fancy meeting you here, Ed. Wow, this is really awkward, but I'm actually headed to Oxford. Would you mind if I park in your space?
