Re: Nutt to Ole Miss? Holy Cow... I just heard that Buck and Kincaid in Atlanta reported that Old Miss has offered their HC position to Nutt. My opinion of Old Miss has just hit an all time low. How can they be that stupid?
Re: Nutt to Ole Miss? Another one track mind............. (sorry lsutiga, I have to borrow your line....)
Re: Nutt to Ole Miss? What I gleaned on the Arky board was the Nutt divided the fan base. He had some family members on the staff, some fans thought he was wasting taxpayers money and not trying to hire the best available coaches and administrators. Couple years ago, I think he called the offensive plays, and they weren't doing well. The university forced him to hire an OC, Gus Malzahn, who was told he could bring his offense from Springdale High, with Mitch Mustain. After they got pounded by USC, (one game tryout), Nutt took the offense back and instead of more passing, it was more running with DMac and Jones. Gus quit, Mitch transfered to USC, and the fan base was terribly split. A lot of fans thought they had 10-2 talent this year and lost 4 games. Nutt seems bright enough on x and o's, but a true "good ole boy" network type of guy, and egotistical and hard headed, to his own detriment. Fan base got down on Broyles for tolerating it. If Nutt did not go back to his family members for his staff, and tried to assemble the best staff he could, he may do some good. I don't think this leopard will change his spots though. He has not been burned bad enough, IMO.
Re: Nutt to Ole Miss? Well that's a twist from the Nutt camp. The other side tells it quite differently. Nutt wanted Mustain and Damien Williams and brought Malzahn along while both player's families were told they'd start and get lots of playing time. When Mustain didn't light the place up, he and Williams got less time and things started to go down hill. A big booster and personal friend of Nutt sent Mitch Mustain a letter telling him what a piece of crap he was and that he had no business being on the field. She wrote an absolutely scathing and hateful diatribe (I saw it) to a college kid for goodness' sake! She eventually apologized for it and got a major hand slap for overstepping her boundaries. In the meantime, Malzahn, who had no business being there had a job "arranged" for him and left as did the two players. Then there was the "business" with the sports reporter he claimed to be working on a charity event with. Over 100 phone calls...........she was pretty hot too. :hihi:
Re: Nutt to Ole Miss? Nutt is the ringmaster of his own circus, but he can coach. Why would any coach go to a passing attack when you have McFadden and Jones on the bench. That's crazy talk! Nutt was just trying to cut too many deals and deliver too many slights of hand with recruiting - someone was sure to get burned. Ole Miss will be a better and more dangerous team with Nutt on the sideline. Sure, they'll be disfunctional but they're that already.
Re: Nutt to Ole Miss? Exactly!!!! If you have D-Mac and Jones you run the hell out of the football...Yeah they lost four games, but they lost two games in the last minute...Just like we won a couple late in the game...With Arky, those games went against them...I sure hope he doesn't go to Ole Miss...They will be a better team with him.
Re: Nutt to Ole Miss? Houston Nutt with access to the kind of talent that the state of Mississippi produces should scare the hell out of everyone here, most of whom are still lamenting the Tiger's loss to his much less talented team just a couple days ago .
Re: Nutt to Ole Miss? I think LSU should now be more concerned about who will replace Nutt rather than what Nutt will do at Mississippi.
