After spending three years overseas in the USAF I returned to the US where I was stationed at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. My fuzzy memory tells me that I had to listen to the game on the radio.
I was at the game too. After the game I was walking around TS going to my car and some Ole Miss fans were walking the other way, one of them, a girl, had a big confederate flag in her arms that stuck out. As I walked by I had to take my arm and push it out of the way, when I did she tried to start beating me with it!
from a Brodie Miller article in the athletic: “We just have to be better at tackling,” Kelly said. “If we start there and really focus on just doing our job, we’re going to be much better.” It’s LSU’s best chance of winning. That might sound obvious, but it’s because Dart, Ole Miss’ transfer quarterback from USC, hasn’t really been asked to win Ole Miss a game yet. The run game has been so steady, Ole Miss can cruise to wins without putting much on him. Dart hasn’t played outright poorly, but against Kentucky he was 15-of-29 for 213 yards, no touchdowns and an interception. And he was 9-of-19 for 130 yards against Auburn, plus he threw two interceptions against Vanderbilt. The huge question surrounding this Ole Miss team is what happens when a team challenges Dart to beat it. If LSU can keep the run in check, the answer will be revealed Saturday. The LSU defense is in a bit of an identity crisis. Through four games it appeared to be LSU’s strength, especially after shutting down Mississippi State, but poor discipline on the back end allowed Auburn to throw for 337 yards. Most of that was getting too aggressive when Auburn quarterback Robby Ashfordscrambled, with defensive backs leaving their assignments. That was fixable. But then Tennessee ran all over, though Tennessee arguably has the No. 1 offense in the country. LSU is on three consecutive games with defensive woes, and the struggles are no longer the outliers. If LSU stops the Ole Miss run game and wins, LSU is suddenly a 6-2 team and will likely jump not just into the Top 25 but maybe even the top 15. If LSU can’t contain Ole Miss and loses, LSU will remain what most expected, an up-and-down 5-3 team that isn’t challenging for much. Regardless, LSU will enter the bye week with more clarity about what Kelly’s first team really is. And it will likely come down to that Ole Miss run game.
Disney has LSU favored at -2.5. ??? Ole Piss is undefeated. https://www.espn.com/college-football/game/_/gameId/401403923
What's interesting to me is we opened as a 2 1/2 point dog. That's a pretty big swing for a game projected to be that close.
I think people are realizing we're not as bad as they first thought and have the ability to beat just about any SEC team, except for the three elite teams in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. Hopefully, in the next two or three years, we will also be considered a part of that elite group.
Call me crazy but I think we can actually get the gumps. That qb of theirs is slippery as a catfish but if we can find a way to keep him in check I think they can be got!
