I agree but he never even worked his way up from position coach before the Ole Miss job. LSU shouldn't be taking on a DC with no previous DC at any level.
He may not have been the DC at USC but he was the D line coach, assistant head coach, and recruiting coordinator.....RC of the year for 2004 which is why Ole Miss went after him. It's a darn near impossible job to recruit the SE unless you're LSU, Florida, and the rest.
Again, I know this but it was ass-dumb of Ole Miss to hire a position coach with no coordinator experience. Larry Porter was named recruiter of the year recently and I wouldn't want LSU to even consider him as the HC to replace Les Miles.
Then how about as D line coach and RC? I like his name. My dad played football in the 50's with an Orgeron as West Jefferson High in Gretna.
I'm not surprised at this at all. Coach O snatched defeat from the jaws of victory more times than anyone else I can think of in recent years. He couldn't control his team (stealing from hotels!?). I don't wish anything bad on the guy, but I think he'll have a hard time finding much of a coaching job soon. Sort of like Mumme after he left UK. He wound up at Southeastern LA. I hope LSU leaves him alone!
Time will tell but if PC could figure it out with his current staff, Coach O would be MORE than welcome back in SoCal. He is revered out here by most.
