Like most everyone else, I'm most worried about the QB spot. It wasn't helped reading this AM's papers and seeing Miles being quoted as "JR not being in shape." I'm also a little concerned as to how the players will adapt to the new coaches and their styles/personalities. If JR will live up to his potential I think we're in for a great season. We are loaded at most positions.

I did not like his reply on Sports Monday(Feinswag's (s.p.) show in BR) regarding the topic of cupcakes on the schedule, "You need a to take a break then and now." I am like everyone else, I just don't think he knows what he is getting into with the fan base. I will not tolerate "We came out flat" for big games like Florida and Tenn next year.

I worry if I put my vacation time in soon enough to make all the games.

Nah! I could always call in.

This is a problem all champions have. It takes depth to compete for a national championship. All deep teams will have starter-quality men on the sidelines too much. Southern Cal has the problem worse than we do . Oklahoma has had it for decades.

Keeping an over-abundance of talent happy is not a bad situation for a coach to find himself in. LSU has championship depth and I'm delighted about it.

I only worry about another season where an effective starting quarterback doesn't emerge. I am also curious about how effectively Pelini builds on Nick's skilled and powerful defenses.

My main worry is getting through the Arizona State game. Its in a tough spot on the schedule, being the second overall game and coming in as the game before Tennessee. However Arizona State is going to be an outstanding football team. I have no doubt the Tigers will be ready for the SEC big games, but the unfamiliarity with Arizona State makes that a scary contest IMO.

After listening to Miles, and after watching Saban for five years, I am not concerned with the coaching. Miles appears to view the big picture the same as Saban, though they get there a little differently as should be expected. Both believe you recruit the best players who possess good character and are good students. This eliminates many problems alot of teams face. Players are more likely to be self motivated, and are more likely to do the things that they are expected to do on their own that will make the team successful.

On the field, Miles, like Saban, believes you have to have sophisticated NFL styles schemes on defense. From the start he said NFL experience was a key in his selection of DC. If you look at the defensive staff aggression has been emphasized especially with the hires of pelini, peveto & dunbar. All three have emphasized an aggressive, attacking style of defense.

On offense, I like the continuity supplied by keeping JF due to the need to get better QB play. Of all the coaches I think JF was the best one to keep from the old staff relative to the development of the offense and the QB's in particular.

Special teams will hopefully improve in many areas with the addition of a full time coordinator. Miles believes you play starters on ST just like Saban did. lets hope we are more like '03 and less like '04 and maybe we can actually count on XP's??

Overall I do not worry about Miles ability to maintain a high level program. The man spent too much time at michigan, who has been a consistent winner for quite a while. IMO Pelini was a great hire due to his extensive (9 years) NFL experience. Recruiting will be something to watch, with my main concern being that the staff will be able to identify the top prospects, because if they do it seems Miles is very well accepted and LSU's facilities are close to the top if not the top in the country.

So I do have some worries long term, but this season it appears the leadership is there and the sky is the limit if we come ready to play each and every week.

    sorry so long!!

"The teams that excel have a chemistry, personality, and character of leadership and style of men that they are that make them champions and different." - Les Miles

Not exactly on topic, but I saw his name mentioned - I think Shyrone Carey should return EVERY kick possible in 2005.

I always got the impression that Carey and Saban were not on the best of terms. He gets a clean slate with Miles. Let Skyler focus on being the leader on offense and let Shyrone Carey dance. Xavier Carter has wheels, but running full speed into the wedge ain't going to cut it. I would personally love to see # 2 back there...

Carey slides around that field like the little cocktail weenie that he his, and he can break some ankles when he spots the seam.

I'm guessing I'm not alone in saying this is the first time I've ever seen a player described as a cocktail weenie in a positive way.:thumb: I'm not even exactly sure what it means, but I wouldn't mind seeing him play there and let Skyler focus on offense.

I worry fans are gonna give Miles a hard time for things he hasn't even done, such as use LSU to score the Michigan job when it comes available. Or to Bash Miles for things he might not even say such as "we came out flat". Why, that just won't be tolerated!

I worry all of this will happen before the man even has a chance to coach a game at LSU.
