    No, neither me.

I don't have a problem with Miles' offense--I think it's a good fit given our talent, but I don't know too much about Clay. In fact, I don't think Muschamp should be replaced. We all know it was definately Saban's defense, but Muschamp knows the system, knows the players and it's a defense that all of us are very happy with. Let Muschamp stay on, and finally get a chance to take over the defense from Nick's shaddow....

"According to sources, Miles remained high on LSU's list throughout the week, while the school explored other possibilities, including interviews with Petrino, Arkansas coach Houston Nutt, former Texas A&M coach R.C. Slocum and current LSU receivers coach Bobby Williams."

THIS was the "huge list" with "big names" on it? Les Miles is the coach that according to Pres. Jenkins, "everybody would be happy with"?

Gotta throw the BS flag on this one. I'm starting to feel lied to.

I'm not sure what happened to Skips list but it obviously didn't work out like he planned. However I am more than willing to give miles a chance and my full support. I hope he has brains enough to assemble a quality staff.

Ha, ha, now I know what *really* caught LSU's eye about Miles:

Oh, and I don't believe LSU chose Miles, which prompted Petrino to bow out. I think that Bobby reconsidered and dropped out on his own, primarily due to the tidal wave of negative press he got during the week.

He's going to be coaching a Louisville team next year that could and, possibly, should win the Big East next year. He'll be a #1 prospect for jobs for the next few years to come.

He'll have his chances to make a move more on his terms...and not a week after a contract "enhancement".

    It's Official

Well looks like it's all official now. Either 5 or 6 assistants will be joining Les. The last sticking point was Les insisting on 3-year contracts for all of his assistants (same deal they got at OSU). LSU has agreed and the press conf. will be at noon tomorrow. Don't know yet which assistants but I would bet on the DC being one of them. Mike Gundy had a meeting already today with the OSU Pres and it looks like he is on his way to that job.

Right.....Hope that press conference made you feel better. Remember this post in 2008 when Carr retires.

Petrino (edit) did not turn down LSU. LSU said no and for good reason. His character is flawed to say the least, even around the coaching profession as reported. The fact he sold out, like Nick, to any job opening hurt him as well as his interview. While I don't think anything was wrong with his tossing his name out for better jobs, there is some credibility to the reports that somewhere there is a flaw in his personality or credibility or both. LSU cannot accurately predict who will win games here regardless the resume', yet they can determine who is respected within the profession, and Les Miles is respected amongst his peers and assumed to have great character with character programs.

beyond that, I woulda been somewhat pleased with Petrino as HC yet I respect others on the inside above my opinion (outside of LSU alone that is), especially when it comes to character.

WHY THE HELL DIDNT WE TELL JACK DEL RIO THE JOB WAS HIS (opening for my rant)? He was confused and fired his agent because he was caught in the middle of an NFL job and the possibility of this one. Its what I fault Skip for in this process.

NFL guy with great energy and obvious motivator at the college level is a good start for success.
