Re: How Miles Can Win Over Tiger Fans Who Doubt I believe Miles learned from the Auburn game last year ... don't get too conservative in the big games. I fully expect to see Crowton's offense against VaTech. That doesn't guarantee a win, but I don't think we'll lose b/c of being too conservative on offense. People will continue to question Miles until he gets that first SEC title.
Re: How Miles Can Win Over Tiger Fans Who Doubt Well, I'm glad to see all of you Miles believers post your passionate replies. I'm not saying I don't believe in Miles. The way he handled Katrina, the way he keeps his players happy and rewards their hard work with playing time, the way he speaks passionately about the sport in every public appearance, the way he recruits, the way he's won 23 of his first 27 games. Still, Tiger fans know in their hearts that LSU was the best team in the nation last year. They did not even win the SEC West. Was it bad luck? Or was it non-championship-caliber coaching vs. Auburn and Florida? Miles is a good guy and knows how to put a winner on the field. Can he take his team to the next level, though? Remember, these are the same questions we asked of Nick Saban. Heck, I remember myself being livid at him in 2003 after his eventual national champs got spanked by Florida in Tiger Stadium, 19-7. But Saban eventually answered all the questions with authority, with championships. Now it's Miles's turn to do the same. :crystal:
Re: How Miles Can Win Over Tiger Fans Who Doubt If he were to stand at the gravesite, and ask "Cholly Mac" that question-----------the ground would begin to quake and rumble as ole "Cholly Mac" laughed and rolled over in his grave. Dew would begin to show on the grass as Coach McClendon shed tears of laughter. RIP to one of the best. I'll always remember and respect him.
Re: How Miles Can Win Over Tiger Fans Who Doubt I support Miles, but this is a good post. I think coaching cost us the Auburn game last year. The players played well enough to win, the defense was GREAT, as intense as I've seen. We lost it on offense. Play selection and personnel selection at running back. When we began to throw late in the game, it was very effective. How can you have Russell, Bowe, Davis, Doucet, LaFell and NOT throw more throughout the game? 1.8 yd. avg. per rush... The Fla. game, I thought the players lost it. Russell fumbles on the 2 and he had a bad game. Looked like his head was not into the game, not concentrating, and he was not alone. The team fumbled the game away. It seemed to me that it changed Russell. After that game, he realized if they were going to win games, HE had to be into the game, mentally prepared every snap. He learned his lesson at Fla, and he was a big difference the rest of the way. Coaches and players all learned stuff along the way, and they became a better ball club. The best game for the championship last year would have been LSU / Fla., I think we were better than OSU. But just as saban was not defined by UAB, neither is Miles defined by the Auburn game. Miles is defined by his body of work, 23-4 and two bowl victories.
Re: How Miles Can Win Over Tiger Fans Who Doubt In the overall scheme of things since Miles got to LSU, he has done a tremendous job, IMO. I wouldn't , and I don't think it is fair to put him under a microscope, and blame any imperfections, or failings on him, and pass judgement that he is not a good coach. People are missing the forest.
Re: How Miles Can Win Over Tiger Fans Who Doubt I couldnt disagree with both of you any more. There are so many factors that go into winning a NC and very few great coaches have the chance. Tommy Tubberville had the team and was undefeated and he didnt get the chance. One of the factors is luck and if you throw that in the mix it just doesnt go your way sometimes. I love Charley Mac and i grew up with him as my coach. He never won a NC but i would have him as my coach any day. If all you base your opinions on is whether they win a NC or the SEC then you are missing the whole point and you will probably never be happy if we dont. Yes i want to win and if you know me you know i love to compete and win. But their can only be 1 champion and your expectations are too much. Enjoy the ride and be happy that we have a team thats in the hunt. Saban made many mistakes and won a championship. Tubberville went undefeated and didnt. Give em hell coach miles . And know you have the support of a lot of Tiger fans. And yes if you dont win all the other good stuff you do is lost on alot of these fans. And sometimes when you win it is not good enough. But give em hell anyway!!!
Re: How Miles Can Win Over Tiger Fans Who Doubt i know what you're saying but i think you have a lot less control over winning a NC than an SEC title. beat the teams in your conference and be victorious in ATL. i would think most of the doubters would be won over if miles brought an SEC title home.
Re: How Miles Can Win Over Tiger Fans Who Doubt So, guess the results of this game didn't win you over?
Re: How Miles Can Win Over Tiger Fans Who Doubt These old posts together with his recent string of posts confirms that TC really isn't anti Miles, he just isn't over his man crush on Saban. Anyone know where TC can get a blowup Saban doll so he can fulfill his every fantasy and won't have to vent his pent up sexual frustration on Miles?:miles:
 Like I was saying to another guy in another thread, Miles will never do anything to make you happy.
