Has LSU ever had a QB that didn't fit this choice?

Does it matter? If any of us bring up that the dude needs to stick the ball in his midsection on rushing attempts, quit fumbling once per game on his rushing attempts, and quit throwing dumba$$ INT's, we're viewed as whiners.

:hihi: I love LSU football. We have room for improvement, but getting a win on the road against a top 10 opponent was nice. Russell isn't perfect either, Flynn might be able to bring more consistency to the table, but I'm happy to have Russell's amazing ability and potential on our side. Before we know it the season will be over, so let's try to enjoy it as much as we can. There are a bunch of traditional powers right now that would like to be in the position we're in. Our only two losses are on the road against top competition, so that really isn't too bad.

By the way, my previous post was tongue in cheek. Alabama's next. Geaux tigers and have a great work week! :thumb:

I'd rather have more consistency than unlimited ability and potential. I don't necessarily believe that Flynn can provide it for us, however.

A few of you mentioned his percieved inability to hit recievers in stride. May I point out, again, that maybe 50% of any QB's passes hit a reciever perfectly in stride? That includes the NFL greats. Go back and watch the Tennessee replay and count the passes he hits nicely as opposed to the ones where the receiver has to adjust. Then watch replays of any other football game known to man...

I don't think that is necessarily true. If you were to simply point any of those things out, it wouldn't be a big deal. I think everyone realizes that JR is not perfect and it is fine to discuss where he needs improvement. The problem is that nobody can just say some small comment without it turning into a "JaMarcus is a moron" conversation.

Thank you for pointing that out. Some fans aren't keeping their expectations in check with reality and don't realize how good JR really is relative to the rest of the college QBs.

i've come to that conclusion long ago. I dont think its racism or hate or anything of the sort. I think its a fanbase who has paralysis from analysis. Just like a parent with his own child, he's overly critical because its natural to see the worst and wanting the best in your own while seeing just success in others. We see highlights of other teams when their qb throws for 300 yards and 4 tds but see nothing from the same qb all previous weeks when he threw 3 picks and less than 200 yards each game. we become conditioned in a way. People are focused on their team only and don't often see things objectively. I think its common among all fanbases nowadays because of the instant ability to share their views online with others who think the same way after (often during) an emotional loss. then it becomes fact to them and spirals out of control.

I think most fail to see how good jamarcus really is while others know how good he could be and forget he's still learning. Lots complain how he doesnt look off a receiver and locks onto a primary target most of the time. Alan Risher said he can count on one hand in his career the times he checked down to the 3rd receiver after the snap yet people assume its done in college all the time. That stuff is learned over a career and very seldom will you see a college qb be able to do it with regularity. look at the crap starting for most nfl teams nowadays.

We want and expect perfection out of 18-21 yr olds playing a kid's game. We fail to realize just how talented and great they really are and how hard they work to do their very best and most often do. We are unappreciative of jamarcus' 21-4 record as a starter because we know he can do better and makes bad decisions at times. We overlook the reality that every qb who's ever played experienced the same things (except joe montana) and we demand better.

jamarcus could be one of the best qbs to ever play given his unmatched physical abilities or could become one of the biggest busts next to ryan leaf. However, the one thing I do know is that when he's gone we will certainly be much more appreciative of just how good and talented of a qb he really was.

...but Im hoping ryan perrilloux helps us get over it much sooner than later.

The results of this poll makes me feel a lot better about Tiger fans. At least TF Tiger fans. Out of 75 votes, only 5 (6%) want JR benched in favor of Flynn. It proves that a vast majority realize JR is the best QB for LSU and that the detractors are a vocal, but miniscule minority. Ignore them and they'll go away.

I figured that, too--a vocal, miniscule minority. But we don't want them to go away. A few dissenters keep us honest and force us to address unpleasant issues.

I don't want them to go away . . . but to simply accept that their views are not the consensus and having made their point, maybe tone down the endless negative rhetoric. It's disrespectful to LSU, the team, the players and it's discouraging to recruits.
