Re: The tough thing if Miles does leave most of the hot coaching prospects will be go

It's still much earlier than when Saban left, and really, it is still fairly early in the coaching-musical-chairs game. It is not time to panick yet (assuming Miles will eventually leave).

I like tiga's thought that the people in charge have a pretty good grasp on what's going on. Maybe tiga has more faith in the people in charge than most of us... myself included.

You make an excellent point here. My parents and I debated this constantly while watching football on Saturday. My mom said she thinks he's staying. My dad and I thought if he was staying, he could've just come out and SAID he's staying (we all know he hasn't done that...)

The reason I'm flip-flopping this week is not necessarily because of Coach Miles' intentions with those nebulous statements, but because it appears UM is interested in other candidates, like Ferentz (or it that all a smokescreen)?

I feel like we'll know more on Monday.

Although rare, most people just seem to want to finally find that one coach that will stay at LSU for a decade or more - if we don't run 'em off first. :)

Spurrier just doesn't seem to fit that build. Especially considering comments he's made in recent years. The Bowden's and Paterno's coaching at older ages at the highest level of college football is pretty rare.

Considering the great amount of success we've had in multiple sports this decade, I truly hope they keep their thumbs up there.

I also think that the question is not whether Miles wants to coach at Michigan or not, but whether Michigan wants Miles.

Oh, and I don't mind coaches leaving every few years as long as we aren't firing them for doing a poor job. Eventually we'll get our long term guy - I'm not sure if he is out there at this time. And actually, Miles might be pretty close to being a long term guy, less Michigan.

guys spurrier's coaching skills are not falling off heck in fact he is doing some of the best coaching of his life right now with the talent that he has. spurrier is not bowden or paterno who are guys that are visibly going down hill.

I would love to have spurrier but i dont think he will leave his augusta national membership for LSU. but who knows he may trade augusta national for a chance at a national championship he does have an ego and he doesnt like to lose.

I doubt very seriously if miles leaves cuz frankly i dont think michigan will really want him

And when he retires in 3 hears (because he admittedly HATES working), we're looking for a new coach again. No thanks. Give me someone we have at least a chance at keeping a little while.

Well as of right now... if we were looking for a young up and comer a la Urban Meyers... we would be sh!t out of luck...

So maybe grabbing an old dog now, still keeping our top 10 status... and then 3 years from now, maybe the market is much better for a young quality coach.
