I understand you are disappointed because LSU was so close. But to say anybody should have--could have won the NC after this crazy season is unrealistic. I prefer to have a more realistic outlook. Not saying I don't want LSU to win a NC, but I certainly understand when they don't.

Don't know what he told the team before the game, but he did indeed say that the game coming this weekend is more important than the Arky game. With no playoff system, they're all equally important.

If you don't believe Miles wants to win the NC more than any person on earth, then I can't help you. Coaches are the most competitive people you'll ever find. Losing kills them and keeps them up at night. It's their livelihood and their ass on the line. Winning is what drives them to work insane hours. I don't doubt his intentions for one second. He said what he said publicly to get people focused on winning the SEC, which is all we have left this year.

This "win it all or get the hell out" mentality drives me crazy. He may or may not ever win a championship. He may turn out to be one of the hundreds of coaches to never win anything. But wanting to throw him out now says a lot about the people suggesting such a thing.

National championships are won with unfailing focus on that goal and that goal alone. Is that the "priority" CLM preached to the players? Because in his definition, the UA game was meaningless! We'd won the West, and it had no bearing on the SEC. It damned well made a difference in the NC stakes, though. CLM's message to the Tigers last week should have been,"guys, the national championship is there for the taking, but we haven't been taking it in recent games. The voters who will ultimately decide who plays for the NC are getting too excited about too many other teams. We need to shred the Hogs this week and remind everyone that we're the team to beat, just like they were saying 6 weeks ago." I'm not downplaying the accomplishment of winning the SEC here, but we all know how the NC is won. When the voters put you on top of the heap, you are there to stay so long as you take care of your business. Once we were established as a prime NC candidate, that should have been the one and only goal of this team. Everything else (the West, the SEC) would have taken care of itself along the way. National championships are too rare to be cavalierly dismissed by saying, oh well, it wasn't what we were thinking about anyway. If that's true, he's not the man for the job.

Oh hell, lets just line them all (coaches and players) up and shoot them. Look what the failed to do. Give me a break, I suppose you never had a bad day at the office. Did you expect Miles to say that he as head coach, the assistants and the players failed so they are just going to mail in the rest of the season? We all still have something to play for - the SEC Championship which apparently does not mean much to you (maybe you should be an Ole Miss fan - they don't seem to know how to get to Atlanta).
Always remember - pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.

As you say, the NC is hard to come by, you need everything to fall in place.
It did not happen for us this year. Get over it and support the team for the SECCG.
