Re: Officially had it with CLM

We're LSU. We should fire any coach who can't win the NC. I mean, our trophy room is just full of NC trophies!

It's our right to be playing in the NC game regularly...

No coach should ever have to apologize for not winning a NC. Give me a break. Thank god you are not a coach, what would your team think if you apologized to the fanbase for the opportunity to play for an SEC title? He has nothing to apologize for.

Yes I can. It's goal setting 101. Win every game. The rest takes care of itself.

When you're trying to win the NC, every game is just as important as the next. Fail to realize that and you end up where we are now. I sure hope Miles's pre game speech didn't include him saying that the SECCG was more important than the game they were about to play against Arkansas. It's just the mindset that troubles me.

I do not know what he said in his pre-game speech, but am confident he was trying to win the game, knowing what was at stake. Does anyone actually believe that anyone on the coaching staff really thought "to hell with the MNC, lets forget this game and win the SEC CG?"

I think its time to look forward. We had a shot at a NC, but lost to a team with very good talent. We can't change it. We CAN however, win an SEC title and get to the Sugar. If we win out, we close the season out near the top, improve our recruiting class with some blue chips, and hopefully help ourselves out in the rankings for next year.:geauxtige

Re: Officially had it with CLM

OK, that's just silly, but thanks for making my point. Our trophy case is not full of NC trophies. They are extremely difficult to win. That's why when a golden opportunity to win one comes along, you pull out all the stops to win it...(continued below)

I did not believe apologies were in order in '06, when we were arguably a better team than we are this year. But the circumstances didn't warrant our getting there, and I never believed it was because the team just didn't seem prepared to get the job done. Nor was one necessary in '05, when we got to the SECCG and lost. I think most people thought that team did everything it could. (BTW, I enjoyed the Peach Bowl and Sugar Bowl wins very much). I believe we will beat Tennessee next week, and then beat Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl. Knowing that we could have--should have--been playing for the national title, I'll consider it a hollow victory. If you disagree, please email me a photo of Les holding up the SEC championship trophy. I'll replace my current avatar with that, symbolic of what some people settled for in '07.

Didn't Oklahoma lose their Conference Championship game to Kansas State and then play LSU and lost in the National Championship game?

Yes, but that loss still had them tied for best record in the country that year. That's not the case this year.
