    Re: New Head Coach

I must be dumb then. Spurrier is 62 years old and never set the world on fire recruiting. He was in talent rich fla.

I think he was one of the greatest, but do you really think he'll coach more than 2 years, at most?

    Re: BO PELINI

Maybe what you are saying has some merit, but we aren't the only team with injuries. We can use the injury excuse, but the bottom line is that our defense hasn't been up to the task for the past few games. We're supposedly stacked at all positions on the field (mark of a top team). Perhaps parity is here to stay, to the dismay of traditional schools.

    Re: BO PELINI

I think all one need do is put in some of the earlier games. Look at how aggressive the defense was. They attacked you, instead of sitting back and waiting for you to come at them. For some reason, over the course of this season, that all changed. I saw the LSU defenders sitting back and reacting. They were not playing downhill, charging at the offense. Corners played a lot of "off" coverage. We consistently only rushed our four down linemen. When we did blitz, it was usually off the corner, and we either had positive results, or the quarterback saw the obvious blitz and went directly where that defender vacated for an easy completion before the coverage could roll over.

The bottom line is that even the blitzes that Pelini did bring, none were exotic and none seemed to really catch the offense off-guard.

Why Pelini blitzed JPW and Alabama a few weeks ago and sat back on 4th and 10 I don't know. Was it the field position? 'Bama was on their goal line while Arkansas was on ours. Maybe.

Either way this defense has consistently given up big plays. Whether it be long touchdown passes, long touchdown runs, or converting 3rd and 29's.. and much of that time they were not exploiting us blitzing. That's the most damning thing of it all. Pelini's defenses were simply being beaten. With the talent on this defense, even factoring in the injuries, I find it hard to imagine a top notch defensive playcaller not being able to handle things and clamp down pedestrian offenses. Especially one-dimensional offenses.

Kentucky passes a lot. We lost. Arkansas runs a lot. We lost.

It's just baffling. Those kids played their hearts out, but I have a feeling for a while now they have not been getting the coaching, especially on defense, that they need. The defense was supposed to be what kept us in the hunt all year. There was a time I was stoked to see us on defense. Toward the end of this year, I was a nervous wreck whenever we lined up on D. That is on Pelini.

    Re: New Head Coach

As for Jimbo...the dude can coach. If you remember the Rohan/Mauck years, our O's were awesome and creative. The probelm for Jimbo came when Leslie showed up. Leslie wants to run the I and be a strong physical team (which i'm okay with, but it was too freaking obvious) and had a hand in all the calls.

I think Jimbo will be a fine head coach...just not at LSU...yet. I think LSU is way ahead of the need to get an up and coming coordinator.

I am not a recent disliker of Miles. I haven't been a fan of him since he showed up. He's been good enough to maintain our status, which i appreciate, but not good enough to win the championships. I forsee a future with Miles as good (top 15) but never winning the championships.

As for future coaches...i want a coach that will either allow the OC to be creative and agressive, or one that is excellent at it themselves. I wouldn't be opposed to a defensive guy either, provided the OC is on their own.

I also have lost all faith in Pelini (since about the Florida game)...i hope he leaves as well...

    Options for HC:
--Spurrier...don't like him...he wont be here long and may have lost his edge.
--Ferentz...solid choice. the dude has made Iowa competitive again with far less talent thatn we have. He may be prone to leave once he gets some wins.
--Peterson...i see him as being a questionable choice...he hasn't really built that program...
--Hawkins...excellent choice. see what he did at BSU?
--Schianno...not a big fan of this choice, but not a bad choice either.
--Rodriguez...excellent choice. not likely to leave, especially since it appears he could snag the NC there...his alma mater.
--Petrino...excellent choice...although he seems kind of shady.
--Ericson...didn't he leave every program with a probation?
--Stoops...he's worth 4 millions...why not bring in a big gun?
--Mangino...he's a dang good coach....except he'd die after a few months of the good food down here.
    --Missouri's coach...same as Mangino.
--Tuberville...i'd love to have him, but i don't think he'd come.
    --Richt...same as Tubby.

I would love to see Muschamp come here as a DC.

if i had to have an OC be the head coach...i'd choose the guy at UF.

If Rich Rodriguez didn't leave West Virginia for Alabama he won't leave for LSU.Alabama was ready to give him the moon and stars, plus his team is most likely going to play/win the NC title this year. Why in his right state of mind he'll leave his home state, his team that just won the NC title with for LSU.

Petrino would be an excellent choice. Your braincells seem a tad shady.
