You answer mine honestly and I will give you the rundown on the same for the Buckeyes...

How would YOU gameplan to beat the LSU Tigers ?

Based on results they look a little vulnerable to a storng running game and possibly at cornerback on defense while on offense your QB has looked very average at times with some questionable decisions.

I would love to hear what the LSU faithful think.

:crystal: ps - we are getting it back !!!

    1) Blitz with 5 or 6 and you should get pressure on Flynn. The OL has been inconsistent at times and with your good DE and LB core, that could be a problem for us.

    2) I would say we are more vunerable to a 4 and 5 WR set with slot WR's getting matched up on LBs running 15 yd routes.

    3) The run defense looked horrible against Arky, but remember Dorsey (72) was hurt and we had to deal with McFadden and Jones. Chris Wells is not like either of these guys. Chris Wells is very good and very underrated IMO and OSU has a good running game, but LSU actually has a very good run defense when healthy and not playing Arky.

    4) However, if the run game is established, it could wear down the LSU D. We are a little thin on DL's and LB's.

    Now your turn.

JMO, but there's only one way the Buckeyes can hang with LSU ..... and that's if they demonstrate they can "outmuscle" LSU along the LOS.

    LSU is nasty .....

    Two ways

    1) Get RUNDMC to suit up for ya'll

    2) Spread the defense out. (This only works if you have the athletes at WR and an accurate QB to get them the ball.)

Keep it close in the first half. We have a BAD habit of letting teams "hang around". If it's close at half, you got as good a shot as anybody of beating us.
However, we are a 2nd half team of late. If we go into the brek up by a TD or more, y'all could be in trouble.

Woodson beat us with lots of quick slants and short timing routes. We don't blitz very much, so if our front 4 doesn't get consistent pressure, the QB can fix a sammich before completing his passes.

McFadden and Jones had good games against us, but they didn't do a whole lot of running it right at us. They ran sideline to sideline first, and executed their blocks downfield beutifully (never saw a team block that well across the whole field).

I would say to beat OSU I would constantly blitz and pressure Boeckman. He has not handled pressure that well although he will stand in the pocket and take a hit. He is a big kid 6-5, 240ish and he can take the hits, but instead of throwing passes away he has thrown into converage trying to make a play that was not there (see 3 ints vs Illinois). Over the last 2-3 games he has been obviously coached to run with it and he can do that when he needs to which I think is underestimated by many.

Nobody has really shut down Wells and the O-line...if he gets to the line of scrimmage and has some momentum he cannot be arm tackled or taken down easily and he will out run alot of people in the open. Remember he was widely regarded to be the #1 recruit in the country as a HS senior and he is playing that way.

I would stack the line of scrimmage and force Boeckman to beat me...most teams have gone that route. Illinois did a good job and beat up our WRs at the line and it hampered our passing game.

We play very good special teams historically, but I will tell you that kickoffs scare me...I think we have given up 2 tds this year that way.

On defense I would run right at us...running wide is not the answer...our LBs are fast and play that game well. Our DT's are young and not there yet. I could see that being a problem. Good DEs...but the DTs do not protect our LBs they way they should when a power running game comes at us. Overall I think our pass defense is solid and you can forget going up against CB Jenkins, he is a #1 pick (and plays that way vs anybody).

IF we lose I think it is because LSU runs the ball well and pressures Boeckman into mistakes. I think Beanie Wells will get his and I don't think we will give up any big plays...this could come down to special teams & turnovers.

    That is what I got.

depends. if we choose to sit back on defense, Id attack our LB's in a spread formation which has given us problems. However, this isn't your strength nor do you have a good receiving tightend or fullback that I recall.

If we choose to attack more against immobile boeckman, then we play to our strength and all bets are off. then a quick passing game would be most effective. again, not your forte'.

as caddi said, controlling the line of scrimmage will be your best hope. wearing LSU's defensive front down by keeping them on the field for long drives would be effective.

arkansas did this and chris wells ( i refuse to call another man beanie) should have some success but you should pray dorsey is not 100% or it could be a futile attempt.

i see a low scoring game with both teams trying to force their will on the other at the line of scrimmage. could be the hester and wells show but each coach will add some new wrinkles.

I foresee trindon holliday (lundquist calls him holloway) and chad jones being the difference makers for LSU with chris wells getting over 100 yards for your squad.

depends on what defense shows up, the last half of the season d or the Virginia tech d.

If we are in that soft zone, I think teams can nickel and dime us to death. 4 yards here 5 yards there. Eat clock and keep the offense on the sideline.

If we get back healthy and return to our aggresive nature, you will have to beat us with the deep ball. You will get a lot of one on one coverage, and you're going to have to beat us over the top.

To stop our offense, you gotta stop Hester first. He is the key. When he is gaining 5 or 6 yards a touch the passing game becomes wide open.

Doesn't matter what the Buckeyes do on Defense, LSU will be jacked up in NO. You think the Fighting Zooks had a spread with speed. You ain't seen nothing yet. On LSU's defense, over a month to heal, and playing in Nawlins...once we get the momentum, its over.
