Yes he is and the excerpts from his book are on Deadspin, Sports News without Access, Favor, or Discretion If you get a chance read the excerpts, its really sickening.
It's when he flinched that is my issue, as far as I can tell in the slow-motion clip it was as close to simultaneous as you can get. You simply can't make that call, especially on a 4th and 5.
I can barely catch it in slow motion and that is focusing on him and looking for it. Maybe it was more obvious from the side angle tho.
If this guys is an LSU fan, I'm Don Imus. I truly believe Bama fans have convinced themselves that they won fair and square.
Sooner or later their luck will run out. The refs will have to make a decision as to who they want to be in the BCSNCG, and both UF and Bama can't go. I give the edge to UF, they have had more calls change their games than Bama.
The clip I posted had 2 diferent angles. From the side and from the front, can't really see it in either. He definitely moved, but it was during the snap.. not before it. Just mind boggling how that ref can make that call. I know it's a "judgement" call and all, still garbage. "A tie goes to the runner" is a pretty good rule of thumb I think. If he were on defense and this wasn't against Bama he would be praised for "timing it perfectly" :hihi: 4th and 5 and threatening to score, this was as much of a game-changer as the uncalled block in the back on Julios TD or the INT at the end of the game. We would have had the ball right near the 15 yard line, 1st down. The more I cool-down from this loss.. the more I realize how awful and one-sided the officiating really was. http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/polls?pCat=46&sCat=810
Maybe we're talking about a different play. I don't remember it being 4th down on the play I'm thinking of...Pays to be able to look at what you are pointing out. I'll take a look when I get home where I can watch it. I could be trying to make a point on a totally different play, or my memory could be shot... who knows.
When that happens, I would love to see the camera zoom onto Saban; I had a great time watching him smash his headset during the Bama game!:hihi:
A referee from the Big 12 who lives in Abita Springs came in to the cafe today and we talked a lot about what they do in the big 12 and how the officials are held accountable. I posted the gist of our conversation in the good eats forum under the "Guess who ate at the Abita Springs cafe?" thread. He went into detail about how they were graded and held accountable.
