What's the point of the Busch series? I used to think that it was for the up and coming drivers. But it seems that same drivers are driving Sundays too. Obviously some of these guys are getting a feel for the track by racing in the Busch races too. What the difference between a Busch series car and a Nextel cup series car?

Good question Gradin99. The difference between a Bush Seris car and a Nextel Cup car is the fact that a Bush Series car has a redneck in it and a Nextel Cup Series car has a Hillbilly in it (unless the same driver races in both, in which case there is no difference).

I guess you would say I am a pretty avid NASCAR fan, and I really have no logical answer for you. More and more, Cup drivers are starting to race in the Busch series too. It makes no sense to me. Unless, there is just simply a shortage of up and comers worthy of being put in some of those cars. I really don't know. There seems to be no complaints from NASCAR about these guys doing this. If it does anything, it brings in more money to NASCAR because the best guys are racing on both days.

As far as the difference in cars - The sponsor on the hood is the only difference. The set up is basically the same. Of course, there may not be as much money being spent on a Busch car as you might see for a Cup car.

There is a slight difference in the cars. The Busch cars are lighter, and they do not have as much horsepower. They also are cheaper to run a team. As far as the Cup drivers running in the Busch, I think it is good if a few of them do it, but now as many as there are now. You need the experianced drivers, so the up and comers have something to compare their skills to.
NA$CAR likes it because they have the stars racing on Sat, and it puts paying customers in the stands.

To add to the diffence in cars, I think they rear spoiler is longer too so they have more downforce hence making them easier to drive. As far as the "Buschwackers" are concerned, I think that its a combination of sponsors wanting a big name driver and the drivers getting a feel for the track (finding the groves). I know one thing, they don't make much money, I heard from 30th on down, it doesn't even pay for the trip there.

I really don't have as much of a problem with Cup drivers participating in the Busch races than I do with Cup drivers being eligible for a Busch Series Championship. Harvick has been on the Cup circuit for quite a few years. Last season, he won the Busch Championship and no one was within 400 points or so of him.

most of the cup drivers participate in the Busch races to get a better feel for the track and how to set their Cup cars up for the Sunday race.

A Busch car pushes 700 horses and nextell puts almost 850. At Daytona the Busch cars are pushing 185 and the nextell cup is pushing 200. I know tht soean't sound like much but when you have somebody on your ass and in front of you and also on either side of you it is scary!!! Add on to that MORE MONEY!!!

Alot of these guys race year around.. sprints, go-carts, etc... They probably race to the track before they race at the track...
