I am anxiously awaiting Red's response. I see you have already gotten some other "red" responses from those peers.......

actually 28-21 at Okla St isn't a bad record...in fact it's pretty good for a school that has won 48% of its games overall. prior to les' arrival, okla st had had 5 losing seasons in 6 yrs.

les coached okla st to 3 straight winning seasons

since les left town the cowboys are 17-19

okla st had another coach you may have heard of: Jimmy Johnson. his record at okla st was 30-25 and he never finished higher than 3rd in the conference.

look deeper than the surface atlbuckeye and you'll see why going 28-21 with average players is a great accomplishment. i guess that's why us Tiger fans think you have a coach who's accomplished great things. :milesmic:

    Re: Tressel and Top 5

If you peel back the onion on those NCAA violations you would find out that all of that mentioned above was linked to a singular booster who later was convicted of some other nefarious crimes....Tressel had nothing to do with booster and had never even met the guy (not to mention that the booster violations were self reported !)...then again if you know anything about Youngstown, OH you would not be surprised by the such booster activity...(they could have very easily filmed the Sopranos in Y-town).

I would say perhaps depending on how he coaches and what the results are...

So ATLBuckeye... by your logic. Because Les Miles has lost some dumb games, and wasn't a "great hire" at the time LSU contracted him, it makes him a mediocre coach.

But as we saw this past weekend... Rich Rodriguez, one of the best coaches in the nation as far as getting more from less talented recruits, lost to a 4-7 Pittsburgh team that really didn't even belong on the same field with West Virginia. Does that make him a mediocre coach?

What about Bob Stoops getting beat by a rebuilding Colorado, and a gimmicky Texas Tech?

What about Carroll having 1 bad game a season... Cal, UCLA, Stanford... ec...

Every coach has brain farts... no coach is perfect. But to say that because a coach wasn't a 4 million a year hire, and has made some mistakes, that he is mediocre is downright retarded.

As far as your defense to Youngstown and Tressel... are you telling me that Tressel is blind, or that he can't control his program? Neither are great coaching traits.
