How do you figure that? Coach Saban is the guy that choked against Utah last year in the Sugar, against Iowa in the 2004 Capital One Bowl, against Texas in the 2002 Cotton Bowl, against UL-Monroe, against UA-Birmingham, against Dinardo's LSU in the Indy Bowl, etc. Yeah, Saban is a top-tier football coach, but the guy isn't as perfect as some Bama fans and LSU fans make him out to be.
True that. The Rocket was one of the most astonishing college football players I've ever seen in my life. Hopefully RS turns out to be similar :LSU231:
In addition to what I wrote above, it is worth noting: 2009 -- most rushing yards/game #2 Gerhart #12 Ingram 2009 -- most rushing TDs #1 Gerhart #14 Ingram 2009 -- all-purpose yards/game #19 Gerhart #31 Ingram 2009 -- scoring #1 Gerhart #25 Ingram Sure, Ingram faced better defenses than Gerhart did, but Ingram had guys like Julio Jones, Greg McElroy, Trent Richardson, TE Colin Peek, OL Mike Johnson, OL W. Vlachos, etc taking the pressure off him just on offense.... not to mention all Bama's defensive and special team stars. There's a reason Bama was preseason #5 in both polls and Stanford was not ranked in the preseason Top 25 in either poll (didn't even get a single vote in either poll). Now Stanford is ranked in the Top 25 in both polls. It's the first time Stanford has cracked the Top 25 at any point since 2001!
Good point. Ingram wasn't in the Top 10 of anything (#12 rushing ypg, #14 rushing TDs, #25 scoring, #31 all-purpose ypg, #36 YPC, etc). To add to that, in the huge Bama vs Auburn game on Nov 29, the famous Iron Bowl, Ingram got benched in favor of Ricardson because Ingram was sucking so bad. In that Iron Bowl game at the end of the regular season, Ingram ended up with only 30 yards on 16 carries (1.9 YPC). Not exactly what you think of when you think Heisman. Good thing for Ingram, the Heisman votes were in before his crapola performance.
Many Bama fans agree with this, that Ro is the MVP of Bama's team. I'm shocked the guy wasn't in the Heisman race up there with Suh. As for #2 MVP on the Bama team, I'd give it to Fat Blob Cody (a lot of Bama fans agree with this as well). That Tennessee win would have never happened but for Fatboy's two blocked FGs. You could also make a case for Bama kicker Tiffin as the team MVP.
I hope this doesn't mean your not going to reconsider. I compared Dixon with Ingram. I personally thought my statement was as equally bias and prejudice as yours. The one telling sign for both opposing views is this: Ingram won the Heisman. Dixon won the egg Bowl. Your perception of class had nothing to do with either.
