not saying he's not a great player, but not heisman worthy this year. if they weren't going to give it to suh, then the heisman needs to be like the baseball HOF, no one needs to get it it every year. it's obvious they just gave it to the guy who had the better performance on the winning conf cg game that day. if colt threw for 3 td's and 300 yds against neb, he'd be sporting it. too much emphasis was put on the last saturday.
[FONT="]I guess this goes to show you don't have to be the "best" in any area to win the Heisman. In fact, it probably hurts since the late 80's. 9 of the last 10 winners have been on a team ranked 1 or 2. how did tebow get edged out of the nobel? seriously he should have won it. i predicted ingram would win the heisman. hes a good country black dude. humble and thankful. i like him.
When Bear was there, he would give credit to the opposition when it was due. Too bad many of the Bama fans never caught on to that line of thought. Most of the Bama fans I know, are egotistical braggards. Bama never lost a game that they weren't cheated out of. I have seen some really fine teams come out of Bama. And some great players too. However, much of the fan base just come across as "we won because we are Bama." Truthfully, I have met some really classy Bama fans. But many of the others come across with pissy attitudes.....kinda like....yours.
You do realize Leinart was the last to win both the Heisman and MNC in the same year. Bush won the Heisman the year they lost to Texas.
Suh was so dominant that he should have won this year AND next year even though he'll be in the pros!
that's pretty bad, but you're from MS so you are forgiven. You just click the "Yes, post a poll with this thread" option at the bottom of the post you used to start the thread.
My vote is for Gerhart. Watching the Heisman show, they pointed out that the guy was #1 in every rushing stat in the NCAA this year... all while playing for Stanford (sure, Stanford doesn't face SEC competition, but come on, it is Stanford... not exactly the most talented team in the Pac-10). Also, he is a dual-sport NCAA Div 1 athlete, was a 3-year starter for a very good Stanford baseball program before giving up his 4th year of NCAA baseball to focus on football and school. Dual-sport starting athletes in a major conference are a very rare breed (think Chad Jones). In addition, they pointed out that the kid was taking 21 hours this semester (majoring in management, science and engineering)... at Stanford... one of the very best/cream-of-the-crop academic institutions in the US. He'd have had my vote. But he came close... Gerhart missed out on the Heisman by only 28 points...the closest finish in the 75 year history of the Heisman. Other interesting tidbits about Gerhart: --set the all-time California state high school career rushing record by more than 1,000 yards (his total is the 3rd-highest in all of high school football history in the entire United States) --graduated valedictorian of his high school class --in addition to football and baseball, he was a 3-time letterman in basketball while in high school --NFL Draft Scout projects him as the #3 RB in the 2010 Draft, behind only CJ Spiller of Clemson and Anthony Dixon of Miss State.
