I really can't believe he said this, but the link is at the bottom of the page...

Really? Everyone kills and murders and steals? Maybe that's true where he comes from, but this is just an asinine statement to make.

Speaking of Vick, the best comment I heard on one of the numerous radio talk shows about him resuming his NFL career was when someone said that Vick should be allowed to play, but with one of those electric dog training collars on so the head coach could buzz him when he throws an incompletion or gets sacked. They could also place those electric fence wires arounr the sidelines to keep him turning upfield instead of running out of bounds..

Maybe then, Terrelle Pryor could be forced to play with a muzzle !!!

Regardless of his feelings, he shouldn't have been allowed to wear anything with Vick's name on it. I don't want to see players wearing Obama or McCain or gang symbols or area codes or criminals.

I wonder how many Vick supporters who claim we should forgive and forget are willing to forgive and forget those they claim have "wronged" them.

Ohio St. fans should be humiliated by this remarkable display of immaturity by their supposed team leader. Just another reason to root against the Buckeyes. No way Tressel should allow such a display. Oh, wait. . .
What a load of crap. First of all, it wasn't on his eyebrows. It was below his eyes. Secondly, Tressel is basically telling us that he couldn't even look Pryor in the eye. Afterall, if he can look into the kids eyes, then he can certainly see the eye black below his eyes. This has got to be one of the absolute stupidest things that I've ever heard anyone, much less a college football coach, say. What a weasel.

I think it may be a cultural/upbringing thing. I was speaking with two black co-workers a few weeks back when Michael Jackson died.

First off, I am not trying to paint any particular group with the same brush, which is what this will seem like, but what I am trying to do is relay an honest observation that seems to fit this very story.

Anyway, we were talking about MJ's death, and I said, "Yeah, he was talented, but his run-ins with pedophilia [not to mention stabbing Paul McCartney in the back] tarnishes his legacy in my mind." Both responded with basically the same statement, only repeating it with different phrasing. Mike said, "So. He didn't do nothing to me. That's between him and God." And Tonya added, "Yeah, that's his business, not mine. What do I care what he did?"

So, I asked, "Is OJ guilty?" And Mike responded, "Aw, I ain't getting into that." But Tonya added, "OJ didn't do me wrong, so what do I care? Besides, how do we know he wasn't framed because she was white?" I wanted to ask about R. Kelly, but I knew I would get the same response.

Needless to say, I left it there. My follow-up statement would've been among the lines that David Duke didn't do anything to them, so why give him a hard time? This was at work, and I didn't want to provoke anything. I wasn't angry or anything, but I just couldn't understand how anyone could think this way. By asking questions, I was trying to get them to see how immoral (maybe a bad word here) they were sounding, but nothing changed.

Again, by no means do I want to be accused of saying that all black people are like this. I would imagine that Barack Obama (hopefully) and Tony Dungy would think differently. However, both of these individuals I work with are not related and were distant in age (Tonya is 40ish, Mike is 25ish). I'm saying that it seems to be the way some people are raised, or maybe it is a cultivated response based on who they surround themselves with.

Would their mindset be the same toward David Duke or John Rocker? I doubt it.

Or maybe I'm way off base. If LSUMM sees this, I hope he adds his thoughts. What do you guys think?

I really dont know what my response is supposed to be here, but I can understand somewhat, how your co-workers are thinking. I dont think either of those cases should be viewed generally as a black vs white correlation. It should be looked at as individual cases. Your parallel to David Duke was sort of a poor attempt because his "sins" if you want to call it that are against an entire race of people and other ethnicities. So its kind of an unfair comparison.

OJ was a murder case, society and the media brought race into that. He is guilty and they finally got his ass.
MJ had problems, I dont know if he is a child molester, but I do know that my kids would never stay at his house, just because I have common sense, no matter how famous or talented he is. I am a fan of alot of his music, but im not infatuated with the guy that I would turn a blind eye to those allegations against him.
The Vick situation, I believe he deserves a second chance, I think he should have gone to jail for the gambling and illegal operation he bankrolled. I feel a different way about animal cruelty, because of the hypocrisy in that situation. They made an example out of Vick, essentially its his own fault and he deserves what he got.
    R. Kelly, I havent listen to that guy since all of that nonsense he was involved in and yes he is guilty as sin.
I guess I dont have a problem with Pryor showing Vick love, but his statement shows his ignorance, just as your co-workers showed their ignorance. Players have all kind of stuff tattooed on them and written on their armbands, one never knows what or who they are representing. Pryor just happen to be representing someone very prevalent in our society right now.

Hope that helps to understand their responses.

Yeah, it does help, and I agree with you on Vick. He was black, had a dog fighting ring, and they made an example out of him. I never liked him as a QB, but I'm glad he's back. He's done his time, which is funny because Donte Stallworth killed someone and served, what, a month or two?

In regards to David Duke, I can see how it would be a bad example, but what I was trying to say is that he broke no laws (to my knowledge), despite being a gigantic douche, and never physically harmed anyone. His opinions may be stupid, but if he were to apologize, change his ways and run for office again, I doubt anyone would touch him, white or black.

I apologize if you were offended by my initial post. I was hesitant to post it because I didn't want it to come across as provoking.

I hope David Duke is just an historical footnote and is less relevant than "Mr. Irrelevant".

I was at LSU when that ********* was a regular at free speech alley in a Nazi uniform spouting pure hatred mainly against Jews and Blacks. He was sometimes foaming at the mouth imitating his idol Hitler. Blaming Jews for all the problems in the world.

I kind of took it personally because my poor Grandmother who used to mail me $5 every month in the mail when I was a student at LSU was German Jewish (first generation) and lost contact with her aunts and uncles who stayed there.

I never before was exposed to someone who really hated me for who my ancestors were. It was scary that hatred was so alive!

Several years ago, when he last ran for office, I had to cook for that guy. He had come into a restaurant on the northshore where I was assistant chef (sous). I did my job to the best of my abilities. He wanted to meet the chef and the waitress called me out of the kitchen. I went to his table, He thanked me for a fine meal and asked me to vote for him.

I smiled, told him no way because I remember him in his Nazi uniform at LSU, Told him I was Jewish (actually I'm Catholic), and winked at him before I left. He said, "that's fair" and I left. I left that bastard wondering if I had wiped My a$$ with the bread that was on his plate...(I didn't !!!).

If he came in my restaurant today, by accident, I'd serve him again to the best of my abilities and would leave him wondering the same thing !!!!!!

Great post! Obviously, you've grown enough in your life to be able verbalize your views and not squander your reputation. I doubt I could have handled the situation with Duke as well as you did.

As for Pryor,,,I think people need to look at where his comments come from. He is a KID. Being a kid doesn't give you a pass but people need to remember where their minds were at his age. I've been told he's a pretty good kid from people here in Pa, but he's bound to make some idiotic statements now and then. And he is Vicks protege. Vick may not be teaching him in person, but their styles are the same.
I DO NOT condone the torture of ANY animal, weather it's for sport or any other reason. BUT,,,,,,,,I would never compare it to murder of another human being. Why Vick is compared with Michael Jackson or OJ, I can't comprehend.
