Did y'all hear about Ohio State? Sugar Bowl win dropped. Can you believe this? Arkansas hands them their very first Bowl win against the SEC (I think) and they still lose! Oh man!
This whole time I was thinking this needed to happen. Guys like Pryor would be getting away without any punishment for their actions. Heck, their head coach knew he was playing ineligible players and teams have been punished for lesser crimes. I'm happy now because it keeps Ohio State 0-9 against SEC teams in bowl games. Cheaters never win...
Vacating wins is a lame way of punishment. The games were played and the results occurred. Going back later and saying nevermind just isn't much punishment. Sanctions are needed.
this. the ncaa also needs to send the message that their little cosmetic attempt at punishment isnt enough, and actually make them forfeit the season. for a coach to blatantly disregard all season that he is playing ineligible players, the whole season needs to be forfeited, not vacated. vacation of games is nothing but pansy ass wrist slapping. they also need to lose scholly's as well as bench the players that got a 5 game suspension for the whole season.
See to me, this is where the NFL should step in, and the NCAA should also rescind scholarships and make a person pay back their scholarship. The NFL should suspend anyone who is drafted that is caught cheating in college, and maybe some of this would go away. Do you think some of these kids would have maybe thought about it for a minute if Reggie Bush would have been suspended by the NFL without pay for a year?
I agree, I also think the Universities need to put clauses into the Coach's contract penalizing them for any NCAA violations. And I mean huge financial penalties, and retroactive. Pete Carroll setting in Seattle unpenalized, laughing at college football, disgusts me.
The AD said they lose their 7 game win streak against UM. Vacate keeps the streak alive but puts it at 6. Forfeit should be the minimum. No way they beat the HOGs without the ineligable players. Also the resignation should have been changed to a firing for Tressel. I am not so sure that Ohio State is not paying Terrsel to keep his mouth closed and letting him take all the heat.
