Yeah, I probably should have read that closer. The quote said the video was contrary to what was being reported. That's probably all the wiggle room CUM needs, at least in the short term till he figures out something else.

I didn't mean that you were wrong; I was just referring to how it seems that non-game video footage is an athlete's worst enemey these days...

Did the team vote for him to get a 3 game suspension?

Gregg Doyle has not written a thing about Carlos Hyde and Urban Meyers decision to reinstate him thus far.

Per a reporter that saw it, the video shows he slapped a girl in the face after she slapped him (or tried to slap him). But since he didn't punch her, they aren't making a big deal out of it

I saw the video. You couldn't see much. Looked kind of like a she slapped him/he slapped her back situation in a club. He didn't punch her. It seemed like a gut reaction to something that happened in the moment. No audio. Grainy low res video. Dark.

He shoulda/coulda walked away from it but didn't and retaliated. There's no context that you can tell so who knows what went on to cause any of it.

What bothers me is Gregg Doyle slammed LSU and is clearly avoiding Ohio State. The two player incidents are essentially the same.

I see what you're saying. But seeing both videos, in my mind they aren't close to being the same thing. In both cases the circumstances leading up to the physical altercation are unknown. But in the Hyde video it clearly shows him being slapped first and retaliating with a slap in return. Where I'm from it's a very unmanly thing to hit a woman, even if she deserves it. JH runs up and cold cocks a guy from behind who had just gotten up off of the ground and was verbally engaged in talking to several other guys. Then gets high fives and hugs from his bros. It was a chicken shit, bitch-ass move by any acceptable standard of manhood I'm familiar with, whether you support LSU, or him personally or not. Obviously there was some reason and it clearly appeared that this wasn't the beginning of the physical altercation becasue the other chicken shit (Bayardo)who sucker punched him from behind had his shirt half ripped off. Maybe Baldridge had done the same to them? Maybe he had it coming and truly deserved if from something that happened before the video starts? Who knows? I don't. But the video doesn't show that. The Hyde video does.

One of the problems I see is the lack of objectivity and hypocrisy we generally tend to have as a fan base about this sort of thing. If it's one of Saban's or Meyer's guys at Bama or Florida, or OSU, he's a thug and should be kicked off the team and locked up. It it's one of our angels, it's just a young guy who made a slight mistake in judgement. Who happened to have made an earlier mistake in judgement and so happened to be on probation but didn't let a little detail like that influence his decision making process of when to walk away from a situation. Because CLM would never intentionally recruit a guy who's just a bad kid. Nope. Or protect him from facing the consequences of his bad decisions. Nuh-uh. Or have possibly made a mistake in judgement and gotten fooled by one of them as to his character. Not our coach. Most of us can't (or won't) see him as a flawed man who sometimes makes bad decisions. Except in late game time management situations - everybody agrees he sucks there.

That may be why some journalists have a hard on for nailing him up when he botches a decision. Because he's a good guy. I truly believe he is. But he ain't perfect and shouldn't be viewed as infallible.
